Default TrackSpec vents ...... Couldn't be happier

Wow,, Even better than I could have imagined...

Off the car

Form and function.

Track temp was about 90. Water temp??? 205-220. Never hotter.

HUGE thanks to XP Motorsports/Xplosive Performance for the excellent installation of the vents and hood.

Hate to gripe but I can't really see how they actually look. Your car is too reflective. Could you get a less reflective pic or something? They do look cool from what I see though.

When I first saw the prototype vents on Oli's car and met John, I knew he had a successful product on his hands. It's great to see these getting onto so many track cars, they really do have excellent form and function.

Couple comments for those of you considering installing these. You can get black rivets that look good with the black louvers. Or maybe the silver rivets are the look you are going for, I think they look good too. Just an option to consider. Also, you can place the smaller vents near the front fenders and vent the wheel wells if desired by cutting or drilling holes in the upper wheel well (probably only on dedicated race cars). Or just use them as extra hood ventilation as above.

redtopz:
I might have gone with black rivets had I done this myself but I really like the "silver" ones. Sets it off just a bit.
Moving the smaller vents works well on the C5 (my friend did exactly that) for venting the wheels. On the C6 you'd have to actually mount the smaller ones in the fenders though.

deepcj7:
I can try to get some underside photos. Not much to see though. You do cut through the hood brace in the front but the vent stiffens the hood back up and the is NO FLEX up to 130mph (can't say above that, its as fast as I got).

Cool!

I went to the trackspec site to see more and order but can't find vents on their page at all. Where do you buy them?

Same thing for me, and how much do they cost?

I've found a C5 hood that I could pick up for a reasonable price, not sure what these cost though.......

Photos, installation notes and general info posted here.

Jim, Looks like you made it to Sebring before I did, was it PBOC? Do you have before and after data logs, or solid #'s?

You will need to call or email Trackspec to get pricing and availibility, they are a great shop to work with.

Yes, I'd also be interested in before and after oil and coolant temps. Maybe even changes to high speed corner data (entry speed and exit speed) to see what aero difference the hood vents may have made.

I'm seriously considering these.. My oil temps are so high at the track even with Z51 EOC and Z06 external cooler inline... Also, I like the custom look!... Looks a bit nasty for sure. Not sure If I'd like to cut my hood, but my body shop could have at it for sure! Cost of the parts??

I have a Dewitt's radiator with built in transfer cooler. No oil cooler.
Before the hood my concern was coolant and trans temps. I was constantly in the 230-240 range. This weekend coolant was never over 220. Given that, I never bothered to check the trans temps.
With limited gauges I never used to watch oil temp, just pressure, and pressure at 4000+ was usually about 50psi. This weekend pressure was always 50+ approaching 60 above 5000. (15-50w Redline race oil).
Oil temps were 280-290 15 minutes into the session. With no previous data I was worried but have since been assured the I'm fine up to 300+.
I may install an oil cooler just because. I'd much rather have it down in the 260 range if I can.
I'm clearly not a consistent enough driver to give you data on corner entry/exit speeds.
If you're familiar with Sebring I can tell you this: Bishop was my nemesis. 115 into Bishop and it felt like my car was doing the twist. NO MORE! It is totally solid in Bishop now and gives me much more confidence in gaining entry speed for other corners. My best this weekend was 2:36. 5 seconds off my personal best but that was in January so other factors in play.
I'm totally satisfied with the vents and what they've done for me this far. I had Bob at XP order and install them for me so I have no info on ordering.

I am surprised your car does not have strong tendency toward oversteer with the splitter and hood vents putting a fair amount more weight to the front than the spoiler you have does to the rear. Comp mode saved my bacon a couple of times after I added the same splitter and side skirts without getting the larger spoiler (all Katech) to balance it out. Consider a ZR-1 or Katech spoiler for better balance and the car will be even more planted than it is now.

Cheers

TKOGTO
Actually thinking about finding a way to adapt the new C7Z06 spoiler. I LOVE that thing.
At the moment I'm pretty raw so I could have tons of over/understeer and just be blaming it on wrong entry points. Who knows. Maybe I'll get an Advanced Instructor to drive my car once and see what they think.
Based on the photos from Sebring last week I'd say I need some better shocks first.

tryoyguitar and jwebsta22
If the car is sitting around cool I'll put a tarp or something under the vents just to be safe but I've washed my engine at the car wash with low pressure plenty of times and don't think rain would be an issue. On the track... I'm hoping I generate enough pressure to blow that rain right back up to the clouds Actually, I don't run in the rain. Doesn't seem to be much point. Can't go ***** out so why bother?

I guess that part of the engine bay should be ok to get rained on. These would help my car a lot but I'm still weary of it since it gets run rain or shine.

I love racing in the rain, it's the best test of driver talent that you can do - really separates the herd.
