I used the DRM units when I was running stock calipers on my C5 Z06. The pistons help slow down heat transfer from the pads to the brake fluid. Cooling ducts and high temp fluid are still needed for reliability. If you can pick up a set inexpensively and in good condition, they will help.

Thanks, maybe I should go ahead and get them. I run the Castrol SLR fluid. (or whatever its called). Stupid expensive but I figure either me or my car is worth it. My wife would disagree. I have the ducts as well.

I use DRM SS Pistons in my stock Z51 calipers with Spindle ducts, hoses and SS lines, DOT 4. So far I've been able to go three seasons (last two on R compound) running at the edge with this setup. I am using MOST of the braking capacity on the stock setup as I eat through Carbotech XP12 pads like butter but since I've put all this in and moved to the CTech pads, I've had no fade or overheat failure issues. It's near time for a BBK for me, but it's been a good system for me for three seasons as I learned and got faster!

I'm running the Hawk DTC 70 and 60 pads. How do they compare to the Ctech. I run DBA 4000 rotors, stainless lines and spindle ducts and track only continental slicks. I haven't had any issues but I don't want too either. I am getting better. I'm sure my brake setup is better than I am at this point.

The pistons I'm looking at are DRM's as well.
Thanks

I haven't used the DTC pads. I went from HP+ right up to the CTechs... I run DBA 4000 up front. Sounds like our brake setups are similar. The DRM SS Pistons are a good investment as added insurance against boiling your fluid. You are running hi quality D4 right??
