Here is a video of The Dream Stick by ART.

I can see it saving some time & preventing/minimizing measuring mistakes.

Default Stake the wheel

Has anyone got a really accurate way to hold the wheel? I was doing an align yesterday & it kept moving as I adjusted.

I usually let the column lock (still got one) do it but where the lock clicked was not as dead center as I wanted, so I left the key in so the wheel was free to move a little bit.

I've never really had the need to lock anything, but one way to do it is to pull the boots on the steering arms and clamp each side right next to the rack so it cannot move.

Good thought, probably more work than the final adjustment I did today.

I had to change out the wheels for weekend event.

So the front was up & easy anyway.

The wheel was a couple degrees left, so I lengthened the left 2 flats and shortened the right 2 flats & got it dead. Should change the toe zero, but I'll recheck after the weekend.

Froggy or someone else,

Do you guys know the relationship of the front upper control arms shims to camber change? So for example adding 1/16" shim on the front and rear of the front upper control arm changes the camber positive "X" degrees?

a 1mm shim on each stud is approximately .2 deg camber

i don't know who edited the video, but froggy was correct. if the measurement is longer in front than rear of rim, then it is toe out.

That is correct for the total toe measurement. But from the STRING to the rim, longer in front is toe in.

Per my notes and my shims on my car:

2mm shim = .4 degree
1mm shim = .2 degree
.5mm shim = .1 degree

No biggie, I still have to "think" twice when I go under on which way to turn the adjuster.

Yeah, stationary wheel would be nice. When I do my toe I just reach under with strings out, but steering wheel turns instead of tires... so I have to go back and eyeball it straight.

Nice simple design, does it extend to the floor or the seat? Or either?

something to consider when taking measurements. may want to take into account you being in car.

Froggy, we can save even more time! Art dreamstick w camber gage mod. I used a 3" x 3" steel plate, and tapped the backside of tubes to fasten w 8-32 screws. Gage is magnetic so sticks good to plate. I just need a longer thumb screw and a jam nut (red screw pictured) to give me enough length for level adjustment, then lock it down. Should be good to go!

Perfect hack, use the DreamStick to anchor your camber gauge. Love it!
