Default So you think you don't need a HANS?

Think again.

This happened in our club last weekend at TWS to a friend of mine. It saved his life.

A lot of pain from broken hand I would imagine. I guess you really have to fight that inclination to grab the wheel and brace yourself.

Very lucky, nothing broken. Just real sore in the chest area the most from his belts and the HANS working.

Hands off the wheel and on your chest!

Glad he is OK!

Should have been a flagger waving the yellow as fast as he could wave it. It isn't like they didn't have time to respond.

There was a yellow. This is what happens when you don't do what you are taught to do on the track.....look far ahead to asses your situation.

There was another test that they showed most of the racers in the late 2000's about the importance of the center net in the car, even with a HANS on just how much your neck can stretch during a side impact.

Thanks for posting, good lesson for us all & not easy to post up wreck video when it's someone you know.

Glad driver is ok, hope a good hand doctor can make it all like new.

I counted about 5 major attempts to save it, I usually quit after 2 if there's runoff. Is that the normal 911 procedure? Not being a smarty just asking?

That BMW driver did not even seem to twitch the wheel, just locked 'em up and drove it in with all that space to BMW driver right. What's a usual speed at that spot?

The driver that hit him could have easily gone off track right! Every once and a while racers need to think and act!

Is it just me, or on that bottom test, it doesn't look like the hans did much of anything? The first & second look like it's working.

People are really bad about looking through T1 at TWS before and after coming off the banking. What HPDE level was this?

Glad he is okay!

Especially with a waving yellow. That second driver was not prepared for what the yellow was indicating.

I and the car in front of me were passed under yellow by a car doing full speed into turn 1 at The Ridge during 24 hour of lemons last year.
Some people are just clueless and shouldn't be on the track, period.

Talk about target fixation! The Alfa could have easily run off the track or turned a direct "head on" into partial frontal impact or a side impact! OMG...glad the driver is okay.
