Default Circle track Groupon

I signed up for some laps at a local circle track. I'm thinking of getting a late model stock car as a track day car and this looks like a fun way to find out if I'll like driving these cars.

It was a lot of fun. My instant impression going into the first turn at over 80 was how much pedal effort it took to get the brakes to work. That would take some getting used to.

Left foot braking and manual brakes are a bit different but once you get used to it you'll be A-OK!

I genuinely believe there is nothing more intense than short tracks and bull rings. A shop, hauler and setup knowledge are all must have. A LM class that uses a durable tire and a cheep crate like the 604 will help out a lot financially. 800$ a week for tires and 40,000$ engines get old in a hurry. New cars are very expensive to build and sort out. Cheep race cars are even more trouble and expense. A front running car with setup sheets is the way to go for a lot of reasons. Good help is a must. The greener the driver is the more seasoned the spotter must be. The spotter is the most under rated hand at the track. If he is a good set up man great. These guys are hard to find and very valuable. Then you also need somebody to take tire temps. This can be a helper / tire specialist or a set up man. It can not be the spotter. A decent team running mid pack or up front is a lot of fun. Every inch of a short track is off the chart busy busy busy. Intensity cubbed. For me nothing is more gratifying than pushing your way to the front like a fat chick in a buffet line. Making laps is fun but if you run one feature in a completive short track late model you will be hooked for life. There is nothing like it.

I switched from road racing to dirt late models last year. It's taken me some time to get used to everything, but I've learned alot over the past few months and continue every time I get on the track. Lots of cars to race with no matter where you go, which is awesome!

I'm glad I started in road racing and I've been able to apply alot of driving technique I learned from that over to dirt racing... it requires a much different approach, but it's still tons of fun.

2nd body. This one has lasted all year and would be fine to run next year too if I wanted. But, we'll probably replace most of it this winter and have it fresh for next season.

LOL - I don't think I'd fit...I have a "fun" time with my ASA/GTA car (lost a bunch of weight to fit...gotta keep at it, pounds are creeping up).

It's a tight fit, but yeah through the window. I have a full containment seat too so I've had to really practice getting in and out of it quickly in case of a fire with my helmet on. I don't see how some of the bigger guys do it.

The car I drove had about three inches removed from the "door," presumably so bigger guys could fit.
