Default Track day wheels 17" or 18"

What do you guys suggest for an extra set of track day wheels? Looking to go square all around but not sure on size. I have heard some people tell me to go 17" because there are more tire options at this size. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

There are many more options for performance tires (and race scrub slicks) in 18".

Most here run 4 stock rear 18" Z06 wheels, and many also run a "square" tire package to limit "push"or make it more neutral.

17" track tires are cheaper if you buy new, 18" are more available if you buy used. 18" also is compatible with bigger brakes if you choose to upgrade those down the road.

Way more options when it comes to tires in a 18" and it also will allow far more brake options given you have the right spoke to caliper clearance.

We are now seeing 19" race slicks so it will only be a matter of time before you have a good selection in those as well.

Now given you are running approx the same tire height...a 18" will have a shorter and stiffer side wall with it as well.

Thanks for all the responses. I was told lots of scrubs available in 17 but I see its the opposite now. Off to find me a set of 18" wheels!!!

I run on 17's but we're on stock brakes and can't run slicks(cheap scrubs) so I do it for the cheaper new tire selection...
