Power Steering Cooler options for C6
2008 C6, non Z51.
Trying to find that next second off lap times, uncovered the next weak link last weekend. It looks like the power steering fluid vented at the cap. The fluid was below min but not empty, refilled and it seems OK.
I'll flush and add Redline fluid and it looks relative easy to add a Z51 PS cooler? Do you also need to use the Z51 lines?

It would be much cleaner to install a "framerail" transmission cooler. I have used several of those on a variety of cars. Plumb into the return line. Just about any transmission cooler will work as long as it fits.
On my own street car (C5) I had the factory z51 cooler, but chose to replace it with the above to give me some more room in the already cramped engine compartment. The factory cooler was mounted on the front crossmember right in front of the crank pulley and just plain in the way. Not to mention the airflow was not direct. I mounted mine inside the airbox.

I used one of those basic B&M tranny cooler kits as we had to buy from a local parts store in a pinch. It comes with radiator mounting straps so it's easy to put on the front of the radiator or condensor for good airflow. Just be sure that whatever you use is mounted in the low pressure return line and you'll be fine.

I bought a used one all by itself with no hoses or bolts. So just look on line for the correct bolts that screw directly into the frame. Holes are already there!
Just disconnect, drain, swap out the S-curve with cooler, connect lines, fill, turn almost all the way lock to lock left and right on the steering wheel 10 times, fill again, turn lock to lock again, top up fluid...done.

You may have a point, I've put almost three qts through it via the ranger method and it is still black. Have some Redline on order and will do a real flush with that.

I run redline 5w30 and 10w30 engine oil in my vette and DD engines (acuras), redline d4 ATF in the transmissions (t56 and autos) and power steering, Amsoil in the acura transfer case (was on sale) and redline in the vette diff.
