Default CCW purchased by Weld Wheels

I heard a rumor that Weld Racing wheels has purchased CCW.

Anybody have more info?

Or am I late to the party, again?

Wow! Very cool news! I'm sure John got a nice pay day. Hope they can bring the costs down and offer some new product lines.

They have been coming out with new styles and wheels for the last few months. They are all street wheels though in 19"+ diameter. I am still waiting for them to make a 3 piece that clears big brakes...

My guess (I hope I am wrong) is there will be less personal support and less custom builds.

Yeah, I don't see this as a good thing.

Be prepared for the customer service to go into the crapper, quality to go down, and less chance of getting custom spec'd wheels cut... That is what im expecting at least...

Would be nice if John would come in and comment on this.

Ugh. Maybe I'm just cynical these days, but this was my first thought as well. John was a huge help to me a few years ago dialing in offsets and getting a custom finish on a set of SP500s. After dealing with several other "big name" wheel builders and getting nowhere he was a breath of fresh air. Would hate to see this change (especially since I've been planning on picking up another set of CCWs for the track car over the winter).

I sure hope the quality and customer service provided by CCW over the years does not go out the window. Time will tell I guess.

From what John had told many weeks ago, he will still be on board with CCW for various things like customer support on custom builds. The merging of the two companies allows for John to provide his support from a different angle, while Weld handles the big business.

CCW has been great to work with. After that mustang d-bag took me out at Runoffs, CCW rushed a replacement wheel to me so I could make the nasa nationals at Sonoma. Wheel quality is also excellent.

This can't be good news for most of us. There is no way that Weld Wheels will be able to do what John has done. They're saying all the correct things right now but I've lived through several mergers. CCW will be nothing more than a pleasant memory in a couple of years.

Sadly, I expect what is being said here. Hopefully they will be a silent ownership the profit... But I'm not holding my breath.

Why don't we all give John and weld a chance... John is staying with the company and will be able to focus on the customers and the stuff that he does best while having the resources of a larger company behind him..

Lets not be so negative and give them a chance to settle in and perform...

Wasn't being negative, just stating what I was thinking

The SP16a is a hybrid wheel that is only 2 pieces. Basically a monoblock wheel with the outer lip bolted on. The hybrids only come in 19" or larger.
