Lights over work bench ideas?
I need to install some lighting over my bench as I (as you know) shoot video there from time to time. I was thinking a couple of led floods but not hung up on that. I know lighting has come a long way since the tube fluorescents that most old shops have spaced around the ceiling.
Anyone got a nice setup to share?
I did come across some warnings about "overrating" of ebay/amazon stuff made offshore.
Thanks!

I purchased a couple of 24 inch undercabinet LED light fixtures from Lowes. They work well.

T5 high output bulbs is what I use. I have 20 of these in my 3.5 car garage, they are so ridiculously bright that I don't even need a separate work bench light.
5000 lumens a piece.

Costco also has LED shop lights a couple of them lit my Dad's basement up so well that I'm replacing the flourescent lights in my garage with them. Be nice to get rid of that buzz.

I have a number of fluorescent fixtures in my 3-garage using T8 bulbs. Over my workbench, I have a pair of 4' two-bulb fixtures installed end to end for a 8' long setup and installed flush on my 9-1/2' garage ceiling. The housings don't have curved reflectors and the garage ceiling is painted gloss white and the walls are semi-gloss white.
One thing to consider with fluorescent bulbs is color temperature. I use either GE or Philips T8 bulbs that have a 6500K (Kelvin) color temp which is considered a "daylight" bulb. If you go down to something like 4500K or lower, the light output is more of a "soft white" even towards a yellow color. That might be something to consider for shooting vids.

It all depend on work bench design. On mine, it is under my homemade cabinets, even with under cabinet T5's and T5's on ceiling, it is very similar to these type of work:
Where I found high output LEDs from Costco handy for added illuminations.

Back in the days, same house/garage, did everything with two overhead 60w incandescent from the garage opener, overcast shadows and all.
Fast forward to present time, need all the light I could get and sometime, need additional help with Optivisor 1.75x.

Hey, I used to save time and around the island pineapple freight train fare, instead, just swim straight across! A little wet both ways, trunks get dry real fast with the trade winds we have here.....
No jokes! Light demand is depending on how many seasons your eyeballs been.

That's pretty good lighting for your under-car work! I feel silly for asking, but is that just the reflection of your overhead fluorescent lights? Or do you have some additional lights under the car that are out of frame of the photo?
