Default Anyone track their car with a 275/40/17 square setup?

I am now into a C5 Z06, coming from a Z28 I have 3 seats of wheels and tires, all 17x9.5 with 275/40/17's.

This setup hurt anything to run on track, any pitfalls?

Car is stock, will have a street/track alignment on it soon.

I have been running nt-05's 275/40/17 square for a few years on my FRC, about 15 trackdays. I have about 8 trackdays on 275/35/18 F and 295/35/18 R, for your info and comparison.

I am slow and have no driver skill, but I am happy with the results. They are cheaper to run than 18's, and I am not ready for scrubs or r-comps.

I have no issues with it. Car does not feel bad/unbalanced and no electrical issues.

The only thing for me is in the slower corners, RA turn 5/7 or RRR 5, I have to be mindful of the "go" pedal. I can't just start slamming on the gas, or the back end loses grip. But, that helps control me and get better throttle control.

On the fast corners, RA turn 12 or RRR turn 9, the car feels balanced and the back end does not feel loose. And I am not slower than when I am on the 295's

Hope that helps a little

That's what I plan to keep running until they stop making tires in that size. Toyo RA1 or Nitto NT01 on OEM C5Z fronts all around.

People say that it hurts abs/tractioncontrol/activehandling but I have used a square setup in rain and even snow now on the street and all of those systems are working just fine.

The only thing I've noticed is that traction control intervenes a little earlier than it needs to - but you shouldn't be using traction control on the track anyway. ABS and active handling seem to work fine.

A lot of us C4 guys run that setup - it was the stock size and C4s just run best with a square setup (so I'm told).

I really want to find a set of wheels in that size other than my sawblades. They just don't look very good IMO.
