Ok, the 200tw 2015 autox/track tire questions...

I finally made the move and ordered tires from Tire Rack. Ordered 275/35R-18 BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RE-71R SL for the fronts and P315/30ZR-18 BFGOODRICH G-FORCE RIVAL S LL for the rears. After reading the comments in this thread and going to the Pro Solo at the Met Life Stadium and watching Mike Johnson and Mark Daddio this shouldn't be a bad combination. I will find out myself. Just got to tired of waiting for other BF Goodrich sizes.
The Bridgestones shipped today and Tire Rack said the BF Goodrich should be available late this month. My formula 43 wheels should be shipped the week of May 25th. Can't wait to finally get started autocrossing after a long absent (years). Want to thank Xian, Sam, and others for helping me make up my mind.

Don't forget to heat cycle the tires if you're not having TR do it.

Tires are cheaper and more available on the Miata. The Corvette, looking at TR and others I'm screwed for availability on both 17"s and 18"s for the time being, those old ZII's on the Corvette are looking mightly slim in the tread depth department. Not good....BFG and Bridgestone need to step up production. I NEED to buy something soon, TAKE MY MONEY!!! Maybe I'll give Hoosier a call...

What if I auto-x both? Still my fault....?

Like I've said before, if you want the tires then put in your order. TR and Phil's are getting shipments in but they're selling them about as fast as the orders are filled. The result is that the website shows them sold-out most of the time.

Sam could you recommend wheel & tire size for my 01 Z for Auto X. I've tried the street tire route for two seasons and am sick of the BS. Going backto R-comp next season. Joel

As long as the 315 on a 10.5 doesn't feel horrible, I suspect that it'll be the better option (for autoX). In equal sizes, it doesn't appear the Rival-S is "faster" than the 71R but there's a damn big difference in size between those two.

I've read it all. My Z wants new shoes. Made a lot of calls the last couple of months, and no one has tires in the sizes needed for the Z06. So I have decided to order A7's. BMF-G can get it another year, I don't think so.
Not waiting any longer. Better for the track as well.

I just picked up a set of re71r's for my C7 and that 275 is the biggest 275 Ive ever seen. It seems to measure really close to the Trofeo R 's on the Z28. They seem awfully big.

Size for size it looks pretty close. I wouldn't even think of buying the BFG's if that was my case. Since I run with other groups besides SCCA I can run my 10.5 all the way around. A 315 square sure seems tempting for those days. I still have 4 more events on my Hoosiers A6's (315)before I have to make a choice. I'm running BS 275 square for A street now. 10.5 rear, 9.5 front.
Thanks,

Guys, I'm just starting to knock the rust off after not autocrossing (or anything) for several years. With the street tire situation what it is, I'm still not entirely sure if I'll be buying street tires or A7's . My 01 C5Z came with old Rivals on stock wheels sized 255/315. Generally speaking how much faster do you think the Rival S and/or RE71R tires are compared to the old Rivals I'm running? One second on a minute long course? Less? More? Just trying to judge if my driving is good enough for me to justify going ahead with a tire purchase or bad enough that I should just run some more on these old Rivals.

If you order Hoosiers from us and the total is more than $1399, we ship them FREE!

Cool, thanks. My driving needs some work but I still felt like I got fair times out of these tires the other day. I think I was about a half second off FTP for the day on a course that was pretty tight. If I'm going to keep running AS I'd like to be on the better tires so if I decide to do that, I'll look to get the 71R's or 71R/RivalS combo.

Woah...really? I figured that kind of time delta would be about what semi-fresh Hoosiers might give. If I could have knocked 3 seconds off the other day, I'd have smoked everyone on pax (it was a little more than a minute long course). Granted, it was a local event and I used to run at the the top of the index with those guys even in cars that weren't fully prepped, but still.
