Default Crash, then recrash

This happened in the Supercross race last night:

Lots of controversy in the Supercross world about the incident.

My question is:

If this happened with cars, what would you think?

And secondly:

Does it make a difference that on motorcycles the riders are much more likely to be injured when someone crashes into you?

Happens in NASCAR all the time, right? IMHO it should never happen in motorsports on any level...but it does.

OTOH, hockey scrums are part of the game.

What happened to clean racing and clean passes? I like watching all kinds of racing. It seems that whether its snowmobiles, super cross, NASCAR, or anything else passing has become blasting your way through versus wearing someone down and passing them clean. To me, clean passing is out muscling, out preparing, or out smarting your competition or all three. I'd much rather watch that then bumper cars because it takes skill.

Plus if you are fortunate enough to make your living racing something, why can't they be professional about it? These guys are 1%'ers and they bitch and moan like a child that can't have a cookie.

I quit racing motorcycles on the memorial day weekend in 1977 when I was hurt at Bridgehampton because that same day (AMA Expert) Sue Roper was fatally injured

If THAT happen in cars, somebody would lose an arm.

You see payback in NASCAR all the time, and to a lesser extent in GrandAm (and can expect it sometime in TUDOR)

After reading many comments online I think I have the answer to why the two groups have such differing views on this incident. My guess is that people who have never raced think the retaliation is inappropriate (basically because they are stupid pussies that think its ok to take someone out if they didn't mean to do it). People who have raced, or are racers, think the retaliation(in this case) was appropriate(because they understand that stupid moves can cause serious or permanent injury, or at the very least damage and loss of $ to another racer).

What do you think?

I think it was appropriate.
