Default New Z28

Has anyone run into the new Z28 on the track since it came out? Or know someone who has one?

Just curious to see if it's as amazing as all the reviews say it is. It seems like prices on the showroom floors has been deeply discounted.....so....toying with the idea of getting one as a track only steed instead of buying another Vette that does double duty.

Thanks. I've already had a base C6, a Grand Sport and a Z06 so I know the technical differences in the car.

I was looking for real time track feedback. Is it as track ready and as fast (not drag racing but lap time wise) as they say?

The Z28 has a stiff suspension and has large race tires.

A stiff suspension is more traction on the turn-in if the driver can handle the fast re-acting car.

The C6 Z06 has a similar stiff suspension and has large tires. Put race tires on it and it will be the faster car around a track because it weighs 600 pounds less and has a lower center of gravity. Also, a T1 suspension can be put on any C5 or C6 Corvette. Bilstein or Penske coilovers can be put on a Corvette.

But those race tires only stay sharp for a couple of track weekends

Saw two run at COTA couple of weeks ago. The drivers' comments were that it was fun but still a heavy car - slow to respond.

I instructed in a friends than ran a couple laps last year.

Impressive car for something right out of the factory with no mods but could feel the weight difference between the C6 and C7's I've driven on the track.

But the C6 & 7 also feel heavy to me on the track.

As much as I like the Z28, for the money, I'd run a C7.
