Default Improved Racing EOC Thermostat Review

I'm looking to piece together a stand-alone oil cooler system for my dual purpose DD/HPDE C5 Z06. Like everyone else, I want good oil cooling at the track and to also not over-cool on the street. I was looking at using the Improved Racing low profile oil cooler thermostat that's rated at 212 deg. and was wondering if anyone had any issues with this piece, such as the thermostat failing or fitment issues. If there are better options out there, such as in-line units, I'd like to hear those as well. Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot for the link! Haha I actually just came across your FS thread for your oil cooler setup. I'll have to give the thread you linked me to a read though, as I'm wanting to build a very similar custom setup.

MOCAL makes an inline unit that I used without problem for 8 years. It bypasses the cooler until engine oil gets to 150 deg, then gradually opens to avoid thermal shock. Fully open at 180 deg. Used it from near freezing temps to 105 deg ambient days.

Had the Mocal on a previous LS3. Did do its job, but was thick and did not seem to have as developed a design.

From where you are its worth the drive over to talk with Michael and the guys at Improved Racing.

Wow, good call. I didn't realize they were right over in Orlando.

Seconded on Michael and Improved Racing. I'm using the 212 on my dual purpose 07. I see 180-190 temps on the street (within 5-10 minutes of a cold start). Track temps are fine too, using the 192 Setrab, though I haven't put it through a summer Sebring event yet.

Cool, I was wondering what temp it would actually regulate to since a lot of thermostats are rated by the temp. that they begin opening. Looks like this one might be rated for the temp. it's fully open at. I'm thinking I will go with the Innovate unit with 212 degree thermostat and the Setrab 625 cooler. I'm not sure what brand or style of hoses I will go with yet.
