Default C7 Z06 & McLaren P1 at Chin COTA

Video from C7 Z06 of McLaren P1 from recent Chin event at COTA. We had 6 McLarens (two P1s) and 3 new Z06's at the event. The McLaren pulls the Vette in the straights (no surprise) but the Vette hangs in the corners. Matt's In the P1 -a very capable driver as was the driver of the Z06

That was an impressive video. Thank you for posting it.

It's helping to quench the thirst to get back out there. I live in the Pacific North...wet, and track season hasn't started yet.

Pretty sweet. For 10x the cost, I think the Vette is a fantastic choice. It's really pretty awesome that this kind of performance and speed is made available to the more common man. I certainly appreciate the Corvette every time I drive it..and this kind of thing reminds me that I'm fortunate to be a Vette owner

Likewise. Competition school and racing for me. Seems like it might as well be another 6 months away...

You are welcome. The track season is reverse down here - the >100* days can set in around the middle of July and hang around till mid September. Although there are a few events held they are just not much fun. The winter-time events are best as long as the rain doesn't show up.

We had drivers from the Northwest and SF Bay area (bunch of P-car guys) and lots of drivers from Ontario and Quebec at the last two COTA events - most got together and rented a car hauler and flew in. You should head down this way for "spring break".

Is that the new "built in" video/data system? What's the best resolution it'll do? Do you "process" it with video editing software b4 you upload to host?

Thanks for posting.

Yes that is the onboard video/data acquisition system in the C7. Do not know the resolution but assume the camera will record in HD as other comparable cameras. It is not my video so not sure of the edits. I believe the data overlay is from the software that comes with the acquisition system. I think you can download the data to a card and pop into your computer for editing.

Here is another post by the driver in the C7Z section: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...claren-p1.html

Is there something about the curbing that keeps the cars off them? I have never been there.

LOL You don't know how close I came to renting a truck and hauling my car to COTA during the Dec. 31st/Jan. 1st event

Thanks. I figured there had to be something on the back side of those curbs.

This is what it should look like, If it doesn't you're not using enough of the track and you're slow. I have a lot of work to do.

It depends on the section of the track - there is liberal runoff area on most of the track. However there are FIA "turtles" in some corners (yellow) that will destroy your oil pan. Also, the track was wet and there are painted sections on the perimeter of the track that are very slippery when wet.
