Default Dead race car, where to start ;update

My last race of the year last fall 2/3 through a 30 minute sprint I got a reduced power warning on the dash and the car died. No bangs, clanks or spoon in a blender noises just died. Spent therest of the race of side of T3 at Millers west course. What would be the first things to check? Haven't really touch the car since. Any quesses? It's a C5 z06 with a 434 LS2 ARE dry sump.

Start by pulling all the plugs and checking water and oil for contamination. If you can pull codes find out what you have there too.

I think I cleared codes with the kill switch, I'll check oil and water. Cam sensor? Crank sensor?

Might be the PCM. Mine did the same thing when it bricked itself. Does the fuel pump prime anymore?

+1. Was that the weekend with all the rain? I got a reduced power message and my dash died halfway through the race. Had an inch or so of standing water in the passenger footwell, so I presume the PCM drowned. Didn't cut the engine though, and was fine a few days later.

It was that weekend but on Sunday. I think the rain was Saturday. It was a dry track. I think that saturday was one of the wettest days I've ever saw at Miller.

You verified batt connections, of course? And test the battery?

Spark?

Fuel? Noids to see if the injectors are firing

Codes should come up again once it's turned over
At least verify you can talk to the computer

We got a little spoiled by codes, so back to basics. I agree with Brian, I think you'll get some codes once it tries to fire.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys, Going to try to get it picked up tomorrow and start looking at all the things which have been suggested. Need to get it home to do brakes, fluids and hopefully can resolve the issue, we have our first annual tech day and test and tune on the 14th.

well found that the valves were not moving, broken timing chain. this will definitely keep a car from starting.

What chain? Were you using a chain damper?

I was sure we upgraded it. I'm going to talk to the engine builder today. Engine is still in the car not sure of the extent of the damage.

I don't think so. Someone suggested that I might have rounded off the cam lobes off. Going to have to get the motor pulled and see what happened.
