Default Seat Rail options. Planted, MTI, Others?

Folks,

I need of seat rails (fixed) for my passenger Corbeau FX1 Pro seat. I heard hardbar is out of business. What are my other choices?

I have found:

1) "Planted" Brand which are very cheap at about $100 but dont look nearly as stout as the hardbar rails.

2) MTI Racing - much closer to hardbar and cost high at $365

Any others? Why such as difference in cost between planted vs MTI?

Planted supplies Sparco and OMP. They are good quality.

Marrad makes a set that looks identical to the hardbar ones for a little less money than MTI. I have them on my car, no issues.

How tall are you? This will make the decision for you.

I'm 6'1" and started out with the planted seat base and separate side seat mounts. I found that the holes didn't line up at all with the sparco seat mounts. Once i got it pieced together, my seat was actually the same height or taller in the car, I wouldn't fit without a helmet. I returned these and went with the MTI mount. They are like triple the cost and extremely expensive for what you get. But my seat is in and there is room for me with my helmet on. If I was 6'2" or 6'3" not sure this would work.

Making your own would save a ton of dough. There is more than just the rails though. There are mounts that go onto the stock seat studs that give you an angle to your seat.

Planted has two types. One is a flat base and the other are true rails. Di you have the flat base then mounted side rails then I could understand your issue. I think if its just the side rails then I shoudn't have a problem. This is what I am looking at going with.

I went with the Marrad brackets and they were very nice. Was able to mount the seat low enough where it is nearly touching the floor. The planted brackets did not go this low do to bolt and seat conflict.

I had the corbeau side mounts. I went with the kinked Planted universal side mounts to go with the planted floor base. The gentleman at 425 Motorsports up here in the NW, said if if the mounts didn't work I could return or exchange them. Best decision I made!

I made my own base, 1/8" steel and bent in my vice. I picked up some OMP side brackets and put it all together. Could have made the sidepieces without too much trouble either, but I got a deal on them and they were predrilled (even though I ended up drilling extra holes for adjustment and getting the seat almost on the floor).

I found this pic of a different version of the Planted Universal seat brackets. From what I have read, these brackets are are 3/16" thick and has more holes/slots compared to the versions that are black. The base appears to be wider too.

Any good sources?

I have the planted base with planted side mounts like the aluminum ones pictured but in black/steel with sparco sliders and a OMP WRC standard width seat. At 5'8" with the pads in the seat I can't fit my helmet on comfortably. With all the lower pads out I can but still feels like I'm taller than the stock seats. I have the rear bolt in the 2nd hole and the front of the seat in the top slot. I don't see how I can go any lower without mounting the seat with out the sliders. Any ideas?

If you need sliders and want to get as low as possible you need to get the marrad LX1 seat.

I just figured it out. With the kinked bases I think you can get seats lower because the seat will be able to go in between the rails and sliders instead of sitting on top of the rails.

Can you do me a favor and measure from where the rail mounts to the base to where you have the seats mounted? For instance, my seat is mounted at effectively 5 3/8 in the front and 4 5/8 in the rear when you add the 1" for the sliders. I have enough room between the bottom of my seat and the top of the base to drop the seat two holes which would be more than enough room and still keep the sliders.
