Default Formula One - Australia - TV Schedule (U.S.)

=======================================
Formula One - AUSTRALIA Schedule on NBC Sports Network
=======================================

1. THE TIMES AND DAYS FOR THIS RACE ARE DIFFERENT, SO PAY ATTENTION!

2. THE RACE IS SHOWN THREE TIMES, QUALY ONCE, AND PRACTICE(S?) TWICE.

3. ALL OF THE BROADCASTS ARE ON NBC SPORTSNET

If there are changes between now and race weekend I will make them here
AND add a message about it to this thread.

The first day has odd times so I would record so that you get everything.
Pay close attention to the Thursday (Friday Eastern time) show times.
9:30 PM is described as "practice" in my Tivo's schedule but that time makes
no sense as Practice 2 is scheduled for 10:30 PM which DOES match Bernie's
schedule on his web site (f1.com) So I am going to guess (!) that the 9:30 show is
NBCSN's season preview hour or some such thing. Record it to be safe.

UPDATE: Racer magazine's site (racer.com) has the supposed weekend
NBCSN F1 schedule and they are saying that the Thursday 9:30 show is
practice ONE (P1) - a reshowing of what was shown on the streaming
service earlier. It also says that the Friday night 9:30 practice is a rerun of
the streaming coverage of *P3* (!) I find this all hard to believe since they
have rarely shown P1 and ditto P3 (ever?)

These shows will be what they will be. Just don't assume that they will
be the same routine as always. Record them all to be safe.

The post-race show "F1 Extra" is shown immediately after the race show
whatever time that may be. NBC schedules "F1 Extra" to start 2 hours after
the start of the race but, in reality, it's always shown immediately after the race
regardless of the time on the clock. The simplest way to make sure you record "F1 Extra"
is simply to add enough extra time to the race broadcast recording to get any
extra time that was needed to record the entire race including any delays, and to
get "F1 Extra". My standard is to add at least three hours (!) just to make
sure I cover most eventualities.

I pull this info from from my Tivo's schedule. I have no guarantee that
it is correct but it usually is. I also try to double check it with the NBC Sports
NET schedule.

I've never posted in one of your F1 posts but I do read and appreciate them. Thank you! I'm looking forward to this season.

Me too. But I expect that, like last year, Bernie and the media (together and apart) will generate more "interest" than what looks to be another all-Mercedes battle. Let's hope for more than that.

Totally off topic - did anyone get a look at the new Honda aero kit for the Indy cars? Yikes!

Yep. 2 things: First, I think they need to stop trying to follow F1's steps. Second, I foresee MANY caution flags on the ovals!

Thanks for the update, and greetings after the long off-season!

Have a good one,
Mike

Seems like Mercedes waited until the last day of testing to dampen the enthusiasm of their competitors. It will be interesting to compare the progress of Ferrari against Williams and Red Bull. McLaren will likely be sorting things out for more than a few races....

The new Honda Indycar aero-kit looks like it has enough surface area to cover an LMP1 car.......

I have updated the schedule. Nothing critical. No times have changed. I merely wanted to mention that I was looking at racer.com and they report that the odd 9:30 Thursday "practice" is actually a reshowing of P1 and that the Friday "practice" being shown before qualifying is actually P3.

This is hard to believe but my guesses on this stuff have been wrong before.

If this matters to you then assume that you want/need to record all of this weekend's stuff just to be sure you don't miss anything.

Still no Bob Varsha.

Default More on what NBCSN is showing us

So, apparently they ARE showing us all three practice sessions!! At least that's what their web site says in real words. Both the grid and the article text say that it's all three practice sessions.

You can read it for yourself here:
http://motorsportstalk.nbcsports.com...nd-live-extra/

So record/watch according to taste. Wow.

Not a chance. They might have if the teams and engine makers were allowed more than 80 hours total to test and develop the cars and engines. The current situation goes so far beyond ridiculous as to be, well, ridiculous. They simultaneously:

1. mandate one of the most complex power units ever conceived for a racing car, then...

2. Limit testing and development so much as to make it a joke, then...

3. Cry, cry, cry because one manufacturer got it right and now dominates.

It really is just amazing. Even MORE amazing is to listen to them rationalize it all, excuse it all, and present 82 BS reasons why it's still a good idea.

It was good to see Ferrari more competitive in this race. Admittedly a sample size of 1, but still did pretty good. Has anyone heard about Bottas' injury, from the standpoint will be able to run in 2 weeks? I assume so, but never heard just what (other than "soft tissue") his injury was.

Well that was a boring race. Fell asleep half way thru. Apparently missed the most exciting part - Vettel using a pit stop to pass Massa...yawn.

One Brit reporter pointed out that last year Alonso finished 35 seconds behind Rosberg. This year Vettel finished 34.5 seconds behind Hamilton. Not really all that much better.

He did it hitting that hole on the outside of the last corner which banged his *** pretty hard. Just how it is that there are STILL such things on modern race tracks (see Kimi's culvert strike at Siverstone last year) is beyond me.

I was more comparing them to everyone BUT Mercedes. Also, I can't help but think that if Alonso was in Vettel's car it would have been closer. Ifs, buts, candy, and nuts....

BTW, what do you think about Redbull's whining to F1 about quitting if F1 doesn't change the engine rules to specifically eliminate Merc's advantage?

Default Formula 1 movie named "1"................best ever race movie!

“1” is absolutely the best racing movie I have ever seen and undoubtedly the best EVER! I bought a copy on Amazon for $12, so if you haven’t seen it, then DO it!

I watched in on DirecTV last year, and really enjoyed it. Seems like it really focused on the (lack of) safety aspects of F1; I would have preferred more competition coverage, but all in all worth your money and time!

Have a good one,
Mike

I agree. Nobody in F1 can carry a car better than Fernando can. There is a reason that the entire paddock sees him as best driver in the game.

BTW, what do you think about Redbull's whining to F1 about quitting if F1 doesn't change the engine rules to specifically eliminate Merc's advantage?
They can't leave fast/soon enough for me. The astounding quantity and quality of crying and moaning coming from a multi-billion dollar multinational is truly amazing. I would think that Mateschitz would want to gag (or at least Xanax) both Horner and Marko. On the other hand, a lot of the Red Bull target audience maye very well see this as the right way to do business and sport.

I'm normally not a fan of Kate Walker's POV on things but on this one she hit the nail on the head IMO:
http://en.espnf1.com/blogs/motorsport/story/194853.html

Rumor has it that Mateschitz will (eventually) sell Red Bull Racing to Audi so that Audi can counter the huge amount of positive world-wide PR that Mercedes is getting by dominating F1 this way. (They would also offload Toro Rosso to Renault so that they can have a team with which they can develop their engines without having the constant racket of Horner in their ears.)
http://adamcooperf1.com/2015/03/15/h...aits-in-wings/

I *am* with Vettel on the idea that F1 has gone down a bad road with these new power units if only because of the insane complexity of the things. They just aren't meant for F1 the way that the current F1 rules are written. Five hours to change a motor if even the smallest thing breaks? That's just crazy. BUT... if you suggest going back to normally aspirated, non-hybrid sanity, then Toto Wolf starts crying just like Horner with threats to quit F1 and the whole package.

In the old days, Bernie would have told each of them, "then get the F out!" and moved on. Can you imagine the France family's reaction to Ford or GM trying this tactic with NASCAR?

The future does not look bright for F1 at the moment. Have you noticed that all the yapping about the F1 stock offering has gone away? Yeah.

"These power units are the wrong solution for F1, and we would say this even if Renault were in the lead.
I almost spit diet Coke out my nose when I read that.

I imagine Sr. would start with, depending on his mood, either "Son..." or "Boy!..."

Have you noticed that all the yapping about the F1 stock offering has gone away? Yeah.
You know, I'd missed that. I hear all the noise about F1's demise, but compared to Indycar....

My opinion....................is that a world level race which only starts 15 cars, and only finishes 11, has some major problems: financial, teamwise, spectatorwise etc. The Sebring T/A race started 69 cars!
