Do a search for intake manifold valley seal. IIRC this was the real source of "oil burning" in some of the 2001 Z06's.

My 2002 has never consumed or lost a measurable amount of oil. This will be the 11th year of track time events. Stock motor and cooling system.... in fact it has original Dexcool in radiator.

That's about normal; it's amazing what gets caught up in there!

When I installed my Hurricane intake, it didn't make good contact with those seals and the one partially blew out like that pic you posted earlier. I made some sheet metal pieces that I fastened to the inside of the Hurricane's fiberglass radiator shroud and overlapped to the radiator and took air pressure off of the seals. I'd wanted to make a shroud to seal the top of the lip to that horizontal but never got around to it since I stopped tracking the Z06. I use a pressure washer to blow out my radiator and AC, straight on it won't bend fins even with the 15 degree tip. I've started doing this on all my vehicles, even my truck had a lot of dirt and crap come out of the radiator and AC. I clean the Camaro's radiator at least once a year too, I get lots of tire boogers sticking to it.

Let us know if you get any decent amount of oil in that can. I have my can on the other hoses-- between the intake mani/pcv valve and valley cover. If you get significant oil thru that routing I might have to get a second can. I haven't noticed oil in the intake though.

does someone make a screen that mounts underneath that would prevent all that crap from getting sucked up yet still allow air flow?

NVM I found this

04 setup. Just the valve cover is hooked up. The one from the crankcase on the 99 only had a little amount of oil after high rpm/ redline situations. I decided to just leave it off the 04.

On the 99, how did you mount the cans side by side like that?

Where did you get the cans? I have one similar but can't remember where I got it from.

EDIT

I have a Norris catch can

Elite engineering used to make a screen. I have bought two. Have one on my current car. I don't see it on their website anymore.

Ducting is sealed up

I like this idea better than duct tape

Seems top work good, sitting still with a/c on it will go to 207* and stay there, soon as I move it starts dropping to the mid 190's.

I share your belief that a lot of oil travels from the valve cover tube to the catch can.

Actually it's capped off. Nothing venting on the oil cap. It was experiment I was trying.

The Norris can looks like mine, but I can't remember where I got it either. Although mine was a different brand. In the video, you can see the bracket I made for two catch cans.

What was the experiment? I'm wondering if you could run a line from there to the catch can and eliminate the oil running down the hose from the valve cover into the can. I don't see why that wouldn't work as the cap is mounted much higher than the valve cover port.

Yes, please do report back. I finally installed a catch can (standard routing) on my C5 over the winter and am debating on whether a second can or the other routing would be better.

Cleaning the radiator dropped the temp in the trans tunnel, and on my right leg at least 10 degrees during regular driving/cruising.

Has anyone had codes P0172 and P0175 after installing a catch can on the line on the valve cover and throttle body? Weird.
