Nasa TT3 Track Record, thank you Vansteel! C5Z
My instructor and co-driver, Ian Stewart set the Sebring Track Record for Nasa TT3 this weekend!
Here is the video, check it out and make note that he catches and passes a C7 on the back straight!
This was a 2.22 on A6s from 2011. We have some R7s on the way along with some other mods and Ian should be in the teens! I should break into the 2.2x. This was my second event at Sebring and fourth track day anywhere, and ran a 2.32 with help from Ian and Vansteel. I am excited and can't wait to get back there!
I can't believe how awesome a car the C5z is. It dyno'd at 361 rwhp with a stock engine with a K&N panel filter in the stock airbox all the way back to the stock exhaust tips.
I'd like to thank Paul at Vansteel for their setup advice and delrin control arm bushings. It's a different car with these! I also swapped to the SKF hubs after running with the traction control on at Homestead, which turned the rear hubs blue and ate through the XP8 rear pads in 2 days. For Sebring, we are running the stock brakes with Carbotech XP24/XP10 with SRF which made all the difference in braking! I should also mention that I have the not so easy to install DRM ducts (slot the plastic, life and the install is much easier!). However, we did crack a rear rotor, so I will probably run the fronts on the rear and upgrade the fronts because we will be running 2 drivers for the next 2 events, at least.

I do have an issue to overcome, in my torso height. My butt to shoulders is 30" and off the shelf seats max out at 25". I hope to order a custom seat shortly, and fit it to Ian as well, who is about 6" shorter than me. However, in conversation with others I have learned that there are sanctioning bodies that won't allow a race seat/harness without a roll bar. This might prevent or delay this modifcation. At least I can run the 3 point now, if the sanctioning bodies won't allow the harness with the stock seat. If you have any information in regards to the rules at various sanctioning bodies, please let me know (particularly in North GA as we have a home there, now).

Nice video. He is driving his *** off that's for sure. I agree on the seat comments. The pillow idea can't be safe.
What suspension mods do you have and what were the recommended settings from Vansteel?

Stock springs, Koni Yellows, Pfadt 3 pc front bar (full stiff), stock rear bar, stock 17/18" wheels, Vansteel Delrin control arm bushings, 5.5" ride height at the jack pads, adjusted for corner weight with a 280 lb driver and full tank, 3431 total, LF 937, RF 836, LR 833, RR 825. -2.5 Camber up front, no toe, 7 deg. Caster. Rear -1.5 Camber, 1/8 total toe in rear. Paul at Vansteel took the time to talk and make recommendations for a sequence of modifications as well as determine where I was as a driver. He also took into considering the wheels/tires I owned and made these recommendations. I was impressed with the quality service that they offered, and he came by and visited at the track and looked at my tires and offered further advice on how to handle the feathering of the RS3s and to be sure that any issues were handled.

Ian is an incredible driver. I've known him for several years now, we used to autocross together when I lived in Florida. His ability to set up and drive a car is otherworldly. He really is an alien.
