Default Wheel Balance Weight Location

The location of the balancing weights on this wheel does not feel right.

I did not notice this until I got home thinking they really did not require much weight to balance, never thought to look in that area.

Never seen anything like that either. I pulled them off.

I don't know much about state of the art balancers but my old dynamic spin balance machine is very sensitive to where I put weights when the unit is properly calibrated. So where the weights are now would mean the machine will read a second imbalance and need more weight somewhere else. The question is if the tech just spun the wheel once and added weight and called it good vs. adding weight then testing again. The other thing that can happen is close tolerances to the brake calipers can knock weights off when on the spokes. When running C5Z06 rear wheels square this is an issue with BBK's. So if the wheel balances it is fine to be on spokes. The negatives are probably more weight than you need to balance the wheel, caliper to spokes clearance, retention of weights
