Default Formula One - Monaco - TV Schedule (U.S.)

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Formula One - MONACO Schedule on NBC Sports Network AND NBC
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

THE LIVE SHOWING OF THE RACE ON NBC !!!

IT IS NOT ON NBC SPORTS NET!!!

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

1. THE TIMES AND DAYS FOR THIS RACE ARE DIFFERENT, SO PAY ATTENTION!

2. THERE ARE TWO SHOWINGS OF THE RACE THIS SUNDAY (!!)

3. THERE ARE TWO SHOWINGS OF QUALIFYING AND ONE SHOWING OF PRACTICE.

4. ALL PROGRAMS ARE ON NBC SPORTSNET THIS WEEKEND EXCEPT FOR THE
xxLIVE BROADCAST OF THE RACE ITSELF.

5. There are TWO PRE-RACE shows scheduled SEPARATELY this Sunday
xxFOR THE LIVE RACE ONLY.

6. The first PRE-RACE show is scheduled for 4:00 AM (PDT) on NBCSN.
xxThis is not where the race will be shown!!

7. The second PRE-RACE show is included with the race broadcast on NBC.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
(1) The race is being shown LIVE on NBC and NOT on NBC SPORTS NET!!
It is NOT being shown "tape delayed" on NBC. So pay close attention to the
way the schedule works on race day morning. The first pre-race show will
be shown on NBC SportsNet. Then you switch to NBC (NORMAL NBC as in
"The Tonight Show") for the the race itself and the standard pre-race show.

(2) Practice is on THURSDAY morning. They do not run the cars on
Fridays at Monaco.

(3) The post-race show "F1 Extra" is shown immediately after the race show
whatever time that may be. NBC schedules "F1 Extra" to start 2 hours after
the start of the race but, in reality, it's always shown immediately after the race
irregardless of the clock. The simplest way to make sure you record "F1 Extra" is
simply to add enough extra time to the race broadcast recording to get (a) any
extra time that was needed to record the entire race including any delays, and
(b) "F1 Extra". My standard is to add at least three hours (!) just to make
sure I cover most eventualities.
I pull this schedule info from from my Tivo's schedule. I have no guarantee
that it is correct but it usually is. I also double check it with the NBC
Sports NET schedule.

--------------------------------------------------------------
ALL TIMES PACIFIC DST TIME !!!!! (Eastern times in parens)

Thanks, Z, as always. Qualifying should be interesting this year, as always.

Have a good one,

Indeed.

It's funny how so many stories get written about how Monaco is "ridiculous" and the last place on Earth that modern F1 cars should be racing, but I find the place MOST interesting. Exacting driver skill is required on this track more than on any other. More than at any other track the term "inch perfect" is front and center. Anyone who's tossed their Corvette (or?) about on tight mountain roads can grok the premise.

Highly recommend to everyone that they watch the GP2 race. Those cars are a better match for the Monaco track, they are lighter and more agile, and the drivers are trying to demo to the F1 folks that they should be next in line for an F1 drive. In fact, many on the F1 grid today have won or fared well at one or more Monaco GP2 races in the past (Hamilton won the race in the season before he went to McLaren.) They put on an entertaining show (just as often for the screwups )

Also, using the heavier (2000 pound) Formula E cars as a measure of what F1 can/will deal with seems a peculiar concept.

I understand that. That's not what I meant. I meant comparing the SAME series (F1, in this case) year-to-year.

And the FE cars DO run through the swimming pool area, as well as Tabac, where the Monaco course changes were made.

Default GP2 race

Re: what I said about the Monaco GP2 races often being of interest.

Alexander Rossi is ON POLE!!!

That's right, an AMERICAN is on A pole, but apparently not THE pole at Monaco!! :

Gonna watch it now??? Probably

Z//

Edit: Now that I research this a bit more it appears that he's on pole for the race (of two) that NBCSN is *not* showing. I could be wrong as they make it very hard to determine which is which. So watch anyway, just in case. Maybe they will switch which one they show because of Rossi. Keep fingers crossed.

Default Finally....reality cannot be overlooked

Red Bull F1 admitting own car problems

TEAM NO LONG BLAMING RENAULT

Daniel Ricciardo says Red Bull can no longer complain only about its struggling "power unit."

Earlier in 2015, officials of the energy drink-owned team were pointing the finger angrily at Renault, bemoaning a lack of power, drivability and reliability.

But Australian Ricciardo, Red Bull's lead driver, said on Wednesday it is now abundantly clear that the problem with the RB11 car is "not only the engine."

"I think now everyone's obviously aware of that and putting their hand up, saying 'Yeah we know -- it's not where it should be,'" he said in Monaco.

Ricciardo, 25, said times have changed since Red Bull could boast about having clearly the most downforce in F1.

"Probably the last four or five years with Red Bull, one stand-out was the downforce. This year, we're not better than anyone in high-speed corners, and if anything, I think we're even slower than the top guys," said Ricciardo.

At the end of last year, Adrian Newey -- arguably the most renowned aerodynamicist in the sport's history -- took a step back from the sport.

Ricciardo said, "I don't want to sound too critical, but I don't think there's one outstanding excuse. For whatever reason, the puzzle hasn't quite come together yet and therefore the car's not working as well as it should be.

"I'm not content with coming in seventh or eighth, but equally the team isn't as well," he added.

Renault now needs to complain loudly and publicly about how they have busted their asses for the past two years to bring a competitive power unit to the game only to have the bozos at Red Bull stuff it into a crap car.

Graphics question,

What does it mean, mainly near the end of each quali session, when the driver's list shows:

1) checkered flag

2) PIT

3) PIT
