SCCA Majors TWS Memorial Day Grand Prix
Do we need rains, do we add a defogging/blower setup for the windshield, do we need to groove the stickers??
Many questions for a possibly very soggy race weekend. Went with the defogging/blower setup and had a tire groover on standby. Only had rain during Saturday's race, not too heavy though. Had a major storm Saturday night - it left the track soggy (and the off track surfaces swampy) in some places on Sunday, made it interesting!
Details, pictures and videos below.

Qualifying (Saturday morning)
First weekend with race car at TWS - this was my best time for the SCCA Majors race (1:51.679). Definitely leaving a LOT of time on the table. Had a BLAST though! Was difficult to get a clean lap, finally did, late in the session...oh, the black flag early on did not help...

Saturday Race (Race 1 of the weekend)
Fun race at TWS! Started P8, the start was a little disjointed but made the best of it. Ended up going off-track (spun hard, had to restart), got passed by 5th place in my class but was able to not only catch him but also passed him to regain 4th.
Results: 4th in class out of 7. 8th overall out of 23.

Sunday Race (Race 2 of the weekend)
Another fun race at TWS! Due to the previous night's downpour the track was soggy in some places and going off-track meant a bad time - this happened to two fellow competitors, Mark Boothe (sorry man!) on the first lap and John Vining with a few laps to go (he was in 2nd), both in the same spot, cars ended up very near to each other.
Results: 4th in class out of 6 (GT2), 8th overall out of 22 (Group 4).

With this weekend's finishes I am now 2nd in points in the SCCA Majors Mid-States Conference. Next up is the SCCA Majors at High Plains Raceway in Colorado and then, maybe, fingers crossed, the SCCA Nationals at Daytona International Speedway (the Roval).
