What power steering fluid to use?
I changed out my cam and had to unhook the rack and dumped a lot of fluid so I was wanting to know what everyone is using?

I can't find any PSF other than amsoil that states that it meets the gm cold weather power steering spec 9985835. Lots meet the other gm spec.
Would be nice if there was something off the shelf at a local parts / big box, but doesn't appear to be the case.
Valvoline max life is a syn blend, but no idea if that will cut it. I assume the regular white package valvoline PSF that meets the saginaw isn't recommended.

Racer
With my C4 I used Valvoline Synthetic which worked fine on real street tires here in the Florida heat even when running the quick turn around runs that we do in NFCA.
When I went to DOT tires (710s) I had to step up to Redline or after four runs with only five or ten minutes between them the whine and kick back would appear on hot days.

Where do you live to worry about cold weather issues with PS?
I use Redline also.

Drifting
You will have the best results if you get as much of the old fluid out as possible. Top off the power steering reservoir with Redline, jack up the front of the car, let the engine idle while you turn the steering wheel from lock to lock for several minutes to get the fluid to all move around. Shut off the engine and use a turkey baster or something similar to pull as much fluid out of the reservoir as possible. Fill it back up with Redline and repeat until the you no longer see traces of the old fluid. You will not get 100% of it doing this method, but you will get close.
