End of first practice. Factory Corvette's had 2nd and 5th fastest time in class.
The Labre C7.R in GTE_AM was 4th in class. Aston Martins were fastest in both GTE-Pro and GTE-AM.

The #63 Corvette stopped on track without power at the end of the session and is in the garage for repairs.

Lots of variable weather.
Forecast for tomorrow's two qualifying sessions is rain so this first qualifying session in ~1hr might be the exciting one.

I'm always amazed at these pro drivers -- that night qualifying can still be the fastest (even without the weather). I raced once at night. Totally running by memory, and I'm certain I wasn't anywhere near my fastest. Probably why they can make a living doing this, and I can't. Hopefully track stays mostly dry for tomorrow....

5th and 6th in the 1st Qualifying Practice (behind the 3 Aston Martins and one Ferrari)

the GTE-AM car was 10th.

We'll see what the weather has in store for tomorrow.

Yep. Still allowed in P2/LMP2.
Not for long though.

Anyone else think the #21 LM Nissan looks cool? I love the retro paint scheme.

Anyhow, home its a good race and Corvettes can have another great showing.

Looks like the Ferrari's time from last night's qualifying session was invalidated for going too far off track. Moves the Corvettes up one spot each, but with good weather right now, those may all change.

Love it. Sadly the Nissan Nismo GT-R LMs aren't up to the pace. Not running their hybrids supposedly and only at bottom of the LMP1 charts.
Maybe next year!

If anyone is looking for a good Twitter list, I've been using this one for a few years. It has an excellent feed of teams, drivers, media, and officials for all Sportscar racing.

Hopefully the #63 is repairable. They've have lots of time between now and Saturday morning, but that damage may not be reparable. And hopefully Jan is ok (he did radio the crew and said he was ok).
Radio announcers were speculating something on the car or a tire went.

Thanks for summarizing the info. Taking Monday off to recuperate and planning to watch the whole thing live this year! Any one else doing the same? I'm trying to gauge how much fun it will be in person when we can organize a trip.

Always do. ~26hrs probably total (maybe a small 1hr power nap in the night time)

My favorite day of the year! Go C7Rs!

Just saw the tweet from corvette racing. That sucks. Gonna be hard to win with only one car in the race.
