Rebuilding 2004 MN12 for race car
Hey Guys I have a MN12 tranney from a 2004 Z06. It is in my road race track car. I am going to rebuild it. I am located in Long Island NY any recomendations on a transmission specialist for this type of application in my area?

I am not familiar with any shops over there, but I figured you would want to know what the trans really is.

Just installed a Rockland (your neck of the woods) Tranzilla in my '03. Got through with a 3 day event. Shifted smooth as butter for the forward gears. However, let me get back to you in a couple of days while I see if it is the shifter that has me concerned about the reverse gear (have none).

I'm a big fan of RPM transmissions. They can ship you a built tranny and you can use that box to return your core. Level 5 RPM trannys are excellent.

Correct. I had installed an mn6 in the Z but found my camshaft too aggressive. I went back to the m12 and all is right with the world once more. I really like the latest 2 disc clutch pack from QM, also. It is much easier to modulate than the previous V 3 disc.

same OEM gearing (03 Z06) but rebuilt to Race Ready Tranzilla specs. Works nicely with high RPM camshaft. Perfect shift points on the new NCM MSP with 420ish HP at the rear.

I referred to Rockland's website and the .86 5th and .73 6th were posted for their Tranzilla 2.97 first gear tranny. I also called Rockland and was told the website numbers were slightly off but close. RPM told me to get those 5th and 6th gear ratios Rockland was using G-Force gears which are straight cut and are somewhat noisy with a noticeable whine to them. That's why I asked, wondering if you have the different 5th and 6th and did they whine. Rockland also said the T56 cases were fitted with 6060 internals and the Tranzilla was better than an equal to 6060 in shift smoothness and durability.

+1 for Rick Kim - he rebuilt my MN6 3 years ago, its been awesome ever since. He drilled a hole and tapped the tranny case for the oil cooler return line so that it blows cool oil right onto the gears. From what I understand - much better than using the fill hole for the return line. Whatever....all I know is the unit has performed flawlessly.
