Racing Seat for Passenger Side
I will be replacing the passenger side seat with a racing seat and wanted to know what do i need to do to fool the airbag light. I am assuming the passenger side seat has a weight sensor for the airbag.
What have you guys done when replacing the passenger seat with an aftermarket one? Pictures or details would be appreciated, thanks.
Btw this is on a 02 C5Z.

C5 ??
On a C6 the passenger seat does have a weight sensor that will have to be fooled.
I gave up as I couldn't get the light to go out with plugs and use a piece of tape over airbag light. Full containment seat with 6pt harnesses anyway.
The trick is if you fool the electronics it will fire the bag on impact while on track even though no one is in the seat. Drivers bag is fairly cheap compared with passenger bag.
On drivers side its easy with a couple of plugs although you loose steering column in and out, but light stays out.

On my '99 there is no weight sensor. Removing the seat does nothing to trigger a light. However, I have a removable steering wheel so to keep the light from coming on I installed a 3 ohm resistor.

The C5 Z06 should have a key lock switch in the glove compartment that controls the passenger side air bag. You use your key to turn the passenger side air bag off. C5 didn't have side air bags, lap belt pretensioners, passenger presence sensors or seat position sensors. Check your owner's manual for instructions on how to turn the switch. Pre 01 cars had the air bag permanently on but there was a GM Kit that provided a stronger seat belt and a switch so you could make the air bag switchable. They used to make you fill out some NHTSA form before they would sell you the kit.
