Default Looking for cheap / track worthy tire/wheel setups for c4

I have figured out that the 17"x9.5" wheel with 255 tires were the wrong combo to go with... So exploring my options to go wider without busting 2k in a track tire combo.
I found factory aftermarket c7 wheels in a 18x10.5 for 500for a set shipped
Or the 17x11 gn wheels for 444
Want to run 315s.
And yes I know the aftermarket oe style wheels have had cracking issues. But seeing the beefier look for the c7 wheels I kinda hope that will not be as much of a issue

I ran the 18" x 10.5" C5 Z06 rears all around on a square setup; Italian made, excellent quality, light. If you can find a used set, they're much better quality than the aftermarket junk. I ran the Pirelli scrubs; 305/645's.

Depends on the width of the wheel and what tires ( only want track tires, not street)

I would be interested in the wheels you have now when you get new ones if you're going to sell them.

I've been using the CCW wheels for about 15 years now. I run the 275/315 rubber. I probably should run 315s all around but that would mean spending more money.

C4's need at least a 275 up front, and really as Richard noted they should have a square setup. You really can't go much more than a 315 up front without rubbing the inner fender wells. If you already have 9.5 inch wheels just go get a set of 275 tires and be done with it.

The good thing is that tires in a 275/17 are much less expensive since that is such a popular size and there are tons of good tires available in that size. You can get boatloads of grip out of a 275 on a C4. Your mistake was going down to a 255, that has never been enough tire for the front of a C4.

Going to a wider wheel isn't that much more of an advantage and the 275 will work on the track as well as the street. Get a set of R-S3's in a 275 and you'll be more than happy

Yea I didn't realize that a 275 would fit a 9.5 when I purchased the 255s
Since the factory tires were 245s.
But thanks for your input. Once I go thru these 255s I will definitely step up to a wider tires at best

There is no such thing as a 275 RS3 for a 17" wheel.

NT01/NT05 and R888/RA1 are your only reasonable options with tread for a wider-than-255 tire on a 17" wheel at this point. The industry is moving to bigger and bigger wheels.

I looked for the RS3 in a 275 and found nothing. I though I was missing something but I guess not! How well do the NT01s wear?

What are you doing with it?

Track days?

Any rules to worry about?

If not, unless you plan on driving to the event, don't bother with street tires and just get the biggest wheels/tires you can afford.

Running 335's on all 4 myself

No streets for me unless I'm just tuning. All track/or autoX for me with this car.
Are your 335s on a c4? If so what size wheel? And give some feedback if you have experience with other sizes/compounds

For track days I run 17x11 a-molds and Nitto NT-01's. You should have less than $2K in that.
