C6-Z06 Front Tow Hook - What Do I Need To Know?
I'd like to install a front tow hook on my 2008 C6-Z06 to ease loading the vehicle in a trailer using a winch.
A quick search revealed the following options (I'm sure there are many others, too):
Brey-Krause - $136.50

JDP Motorsports - $89.95

Hinson - $94.95

LG Motorsports - $4,295

WCC - $175.95:

VMS - $74.95

Phoenix Performance - No $ listed. Maybe they're embarrassed?

Mine is the VMS. It barely extends enough to use. Satisfactory is all I'd say.
I can hook onto it but I bet a tow truck would maul my bumper slapping a hook on there.
The install was a complete pita.
Bumper off, the compression fittings are hard to do right.
We ended up welding nuts to a 1x steel bar, fitting that inside the bumper and drilling and bolting the VMS up through the lower side of the bumper and into the bar and nuts.
Could probably tow a semi this way but it was not easy.
The grill had to be modded, cut some, to allow the eye to protrude.
Finished it looks very nice and is quite useable for me to winch her in.
If the screw in types actually attach to the frame/bumper in a reasonable manner, they would be your best bet I'm sure.

Another view. The yellow bar in the bumper opening is the bar stock we used (primed) that we welded nuts onto and drilled up from the bottom so we could bolt though the VMS, the bumper and bar and into the nuts.
Sorry, can only load one pic at a time on an IPad.

I have a pfadt tow hook that looks just like jdp and hinson's which use rivnuts. I would use the phoenix type hook if i were to do it again. I have the phoenix rear hook and it was priced comparable.

I use the VMS unit. Had it installed when some bodywork was being done on the front of the car. It works fine and has been used to load the car onto a flatbed. The nice thing about it not sticking out farther than it has to is that you don't crush your shin on it when you walk past the car.
As I understand it, most of them use the rivnuts into the bumper beam fastening method which is a pain in the ***.

Joe (Phoenix) posted a price in some of the forums. I think it was $285 for the pair...

Towing your car on a fairly flat surface with a rivnut will work adequately. But, if you need to pull your car up on a flatbed, just make sure you are not standing behind the car. Ask me, I know.

Sparco Tow Strap - $15. Easy to install with a rivet Nut. Works great.

I have the LG style that bolts through the frame and screws in from the front. It's quite robust, and a PITA to install, but I would feel comfortable pulling the car with it, including up onto the trailer. BTW, I got it on sale from a popular vendor for significantly less than the price listed on the LG site. (can't remember which one...sorry)

The Phoenix one is $185 and the LG one is $175 from SouthernCarParts.
Any difference between the two?
is one easier to install than the other?

But is it strong enough to load the car on the trailer?

I've used it regularly with no issues. However as SKXF430 mentioned...I wouldn't stand behind the car Just make sure someone is in the car to hit the brakes if necessary.
Most all of these tow hooks connect with rivet nuts although some do have an additional little lip that would absorb some of the pulling force possibly to the frame.
Here are a few other options as well:
