Default James Hunt F1 at COTA

Just another track day with Chin Motorsports at Circuit of the Americas this past weekend. Nothing special, just a few typical cars including the McLaren M23 driven by James Hunt during his 1976 world championship season in F1. Oh, and a Ferrari F1 car, a couple of Lamborghini Super Trofeo cars, McLaren P1 and MP4C's - boring stuff.

We have had several "current" F1 cars at our CoTA events, including a Massa F1 Williams, and some (slightly) older F1 cars that are ONLY entered in track (not race) events. However, this one at the July 5th event was a real show stopper.... CoTA is truly a premier track event and brings in premier cars!

Actually many of the participants were from other states and Canada, including the owner of the Hunt F1 who is from New York. The F1 cars and the GT series cars were in advanced and intermediate groups and the participants are used to this type of "traffic".

Semi-on-topic...

For those of you who are old enough to actually remember James Hunt here's an Autoweek story that will likely give you the ******* :-)

SVRA endurance races are of 90 minutes, and include GT cars (Corvettes and Cobras), open wheel (F1 and Indycar) GTP (Audi R8 and RS spyder), CanAm and even DTM cars, all racing at once, and also RAIN or shine!!!
Think F1 cars on slicks upshifting where I am standing on the brakes for turns 1 and 12.....
