Shame, I met him at his shop @ Burbank, Ca. He was a very smart, knowledgable, funny racer. He gave me a ride home once & told me he worked w rocket scientist Werner Von Braun.

Great guy. RIP

I agree he was a great guy! I bought Corvette race parts from Dick for (um) about 44 years! He will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace Dick

I'm going to miss him. For many years we use to meet once night a month at his shop for our GRA club meetings. He was a very humble down to earth guy. He was hands on in the shop.

Remember that lab coat he used to wear?

I don't have the words to describe how I feel right now.

I got the pleasure of meeting and speaking with him a few times. Always a great story to hear from him. Back in the nineties when he did the Corvette Dream and Drive tour, I made sure I got in a car he was driving. It was just a short drive on tight parking lot course, but it was quite an experience.
To hear him tell the story of him setting the lap record for the Daytona 24 hours at night with flashlights taped to the fenders for headlights was priceless!
Godspeed Goldie!
R.I.P. Mr Guldstrand, You will be missed!

I was lucky enough to meet him a couple of times and listen to him as a guest speaker at a couple of events. A friend of mine had a GS80 built that was featured in a couple of magazines right after Dick build it. He told me that Dick called him one day and said that the magazine was testing the GS80 against two other Corvettes and that it was getting beat in the 1/4 mile. He told my friend that he would change the rear end gears for free, that it would not harm his gas mileage, but it would be quicker. After the change it ran away from the other two cars. A few months ago I called his shop to ask about shocks for our vintage racer. The guy at the shop gave me Dick's cell phone number if I had more questions. I never called, which I now regret. R.I.P. Dick.

Glad I got the chance to talk to him on the phone, great guy.

I guess the shop is closed

I was trying to contact them about some more parts.

Now I know why

Default Update

Apparently the Coroners office has not released Dick yet was the last update that I have from this weekend.

The Family, neighbors and really close friends have already had a get together or send off at the house and ***** and Family are thinking of a public something for the many people that have crossed paths with Dick. He is going to be cremated is what I am hearing.

Dick was not in good health for awhile and ***** is holding on (as was relayed by a close friend of the family). So these final times have not been easy on them. Plus he had the old shop Situation and that mess that happened.

I am going to be out in the Valley tomorrow, and will try to get more updates. I think someone said something about the Riverside Raceway Museum making some sort of offer! I am not on good terms with them, but one of the members here said something about that, so I will try to run that down and relay it out to the Family tomorrow.
