Default Pic Request: C5 with 315/30/18 on 18x10.5 - On the front

I've searched until my eyes hurt. Trying to find a few good pictures of a C5 with 315/30/18 tires on a 18x10.5 wheel, on the front. (Thinking of doing this for a square setup). I just want a good visual of how much the tire sticks out past the fender.

Also, if you have a pic to share, mention the wheel offset as well, as obviously that has an impact too. Specifically, I'm interested in the TSW Nurburgrings, which I believe the 18x10.5's are a +65mm offset if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks.

I don't have a pic, but there's a guy who locally autocrosses a 2004 C5 on square 18x10.5 z06 wheels with 315/30/18's BFG RivalS. I believe the Z06 wheels are +55, so that's 10mm more to outer fender in comparison to the TSW's. I don't believe he has clearance issues, but I know he's got quite a bit of camber up front.

Thanks for the reference point on the z06 wheels, that's good to know.

I'm kicking myself. I was at the track last weekend and there were a ton of corvettes there. Should have looked to see what people were running.

I can have a picture for you with 18x10.5 Z06 wheels with 315/30/18 Rival S Monday. It does stick out a little, but it still looks great.

Oh that would be great. I think if I go 315's it would be Rivals, so that's win all the way around. Thanks!

I am pretty positive Danny Popp's C5 runs 315 rivals in the front and 335s in the rear

Here are a couple shots of 18x10.5 with 315/30-18 Hoosier's x4. These are replica wheels but they have the same offset as the stock C5Z rear wheels (58 mm).

I run these TSW and the Z06 rears square with no issues, even have a thin spacer for Big Brake clearance.

TSW 18" x 10.5" on all four corners with 315/30/18's. There is just a slight amount of rub on the lower control arm when at full lock.

Lotta great lookin corvettes.

I am perplexed though at the apparent difference in how much the fronts stick out. For example, cwikstro looks to stick out almost an inch. But 65bspcorvette looks almost flush. Yet both are on the same wheels.

Yea I agree. Would anyone mind sharing their camber settings, and how much they are lowered?

I also wouldn't mind seeing a pic of the rear, directly from the side. Over the weekend I stuck my front tire (245/45/17) on the rear, just to get a visual for tire height. The 245/45/17 is 25.7" tall, which is pretty much the same height as a 315/30/18 (25.4"). Granted my car is still stock height, but that tire looked tiny in the rear fender well.

Also, I see some NC people here. Anybody going to be at the track daze event at VIR in November? That will be my first event with the corvette. I've run full and north course, but this will be my first crack at grand course.

Thanks for the pic mountainbiker2. Sharp looking ride ya got.

One other concern I have is the gearing reduction with a shorter rear tire. I already have a 4.10 gear, so going from a 26.7" tire to a 25.4" tire is a 4-5% gearing reduction, making my 4.10's more like a 4.30 gear. I'm not sure what impact that has at a track like VIR. Any thoughts?

Sorry, alignment settings are typically a trade secret on a race car. If you want to come to Mooresville and look at my car, let me know.

My car is down until probably December at Road Atlanta. Did you go to the THSCC event at VIR week before last?

As for Grand Course, I have raced it before. Fun course! And long! To me, it is one of the better configurations and I wish I could race it more often. However, the South/Patriot/North sections are not conducive for passing, therefore the racing would suffer.

You will have a gearing reduction, but you will be fine. It will be no different than the 255/18s and 285/18s Hoosiers that some of us used to race on when we were all TTA/PTA. You will not need 2nd at Oak Tree and "might" have to go to 5th if you are using the long backstraight. For Grand, you won't need 5th at all.

Yes, I was at the THSCC event, but only spectating on Saturday. Had someone coming from Atlanta to buy my Miata the next day, and the Corvette wasn't prepped yet. We did take 2nd place in the kart race that night tho, haha.

I also did the THSCC event back in April (North Course) and the Track Daze event in May (Full course). But I was in the Miata then.

Thanks for the input on the gearing. (And I completely understand not sharing alignment specs, haha)
