What did you end up doing with the middle, 3rd, brake light area?

For last weekend I covered it with some fancy black duct tape I had.

When the car goes to paint I am making a plate out of ABS plastic to close the hole and we are blending it in with the body contour.

Happy to report the uprights didn't move and the Wing worked well last weekend at Summit Point Main. Ran a 1:17.6 in traffic with a passenger. 2 tenths off the current rules SCCA T1 lap record. Rear end stayed planted, the car performed flawlessly and I couldn't be happier.

That really looks nice.

What kind of spring rates are you using on your car?

So you bring up a great question. Currently the car has 600 lbs all around with Penske doubles. The car was already well balanced with a touch of high speed oversteer. Adding the wing has reversed that and created a very slight high speed understeer push.

So what spring rates should it be? I am in the camp of as soft as possible unless the car is hitting the bump stops or dragging on the track. Once I add the extended splitter to the Katech I am currently running I will see if the springs are stiff enough. In its current configuration the 600 lber's seem to be fine.

I absolutely do need someone in the car better at setup than myself to really dial this thing in. I am the kind of driver that will drive whatever you give me as hard as I can. The better the setup the faster I go. Big issues requiring significant changes are easy for me to detect and tune tune for. It's the fine tuning I need help with when it comes down to extracting the last little bit from the car.

I will have Joe Aquilante set the car up again over the off season and hopefully I can get Andrew to drive this wreck to start next season and make some suggestions.

So what rate did you come up with? Also did you do anything else to balance it? Or better yet did it need anything else?

Here is the car that won the SCCA Majors at Summit Point GT2 class race yesterday driven by Preston Calvert. He ran a quick lap of 1:16.3 I believe. I wanted to see what they were running as the splitter setup and while it's definitely there and wraps all the way around and up in front of the front wheel arches it certainly doesn't protrude out in front of the car that much further than the ZR1 style splitter does on my Wife's car.

With the hood and the closed underside panel I am not sure my Wife's car needs an extended splitter? I am guessing it would need something in the way of a more significant splitter if I dial up the angle of attack on the wing.

I found the balance to be quite nice and the spring rates to be fine. I will go so far as to say it's the easiest car to drive fast I have ever been in. I get more seat time in it starting in two weeks so I will get a better idea of what it needs. If I do go with a splitter setup of some kind I will probably just model it after the 77 car above.

I am curious to see how it compares to the new track car for this season which has a larger wing, extended diffuser elements and a serious extended splitter on the front.

We will see soon enough. I finally feel like all I need is seat time. I don't need to mess with these things anymore than I have which many would say is already way too much!! lol!!

What splitter is on that 77 car? The shop that did your rear uprights, do they have a template to do another set?

I would guess an inquiry with Phoenix might work. I don't know what splitter they use. I was going to see if they have any A7 scrubs after the weekend and would be happy to ask Joe.

Yes my fabricator did make templates.

It may have 500 miles on it by Friday for its first oil change. Other than that it looks really pretty in the garage. lol!! Hope to have it to NJMP Lightning in June.

My Wife's car was fun this past weekend at Pocono North. Lots of sideways driving off 3 with her as a passenger. C7Z pulls it but puts down slower overall lap times. My Wife was in the 58's which for her is moving. It will be interesting to see which car is quicker, hers or the ACR.

I will send you the fabricators info. Hes a good guy and I will let him know you will be in touch.

Not yet. Has about 500 miles on it now. Had the first service done. It will go to NJMP Lightning next month. Trying to find someone who can set the car up properly between now and then.

Apparently it needs needs a spare set of front wheels and tires at minimum or Sunday might be spent on the sidelines as a spectator.

Did you see this thread regarding running R7's on the fronts only?.....seems to be a viable option for not having to bring extra front Kumhos:

What would be nice is if I can get a CCW 18" wheel over these front brake calipers. Then the whole world opens up and I would run slicks. In the rear a 310 or a 325/71/18 or 19 with a 280/645 or 660/18 on the front would be perfect. I just can not see how an 18" barrel fits. It's tight now with the 19's. Those brakes are my biggest issue with the car. Wish it had normal size iron brakes on it. CCB's at the track aren't my first choice.

I have sent a message to Jeff at AP and we are going to talk about the new brakes possibly being made for fitment on the Viper. I just haven't had the time to respond properly yet.

I am going to try a set of 18" front Sidewinders off an ACRX to see what the clearance issues are.

Thanks for the link to that thread.

Fun time from a couple weeks ago. Wing is staying in place and lap times are lower than pre-aero.

As you can tell the rear downforce is working, the front not so much. I did have a gurney lip on the rear wing. The wing but was set at the lowest setting. My suspension is all T1. The above picture was taken at about 145mph
