Default Cooling Down a C2 with a 331

For the second straight event I have run into overheating with my 331 C2. What radiator are you C2 guys using on road race cars? I know I need more shrouding too. New motor after the first overheat and cracked heads so don't want to do that again! Thanks for any recommendations.

I don't have a C2 but do have a C3 and the parts are similar. While there are likely cheaper alternatives, look into DeWitts aluminum radiator and SPAL dual electric fan combos. I have the LS style in my 71 and push it pretty hard on road courses as well as the occasional autocross. Water temps have never once been my concern, oil worries me more than water temp.

You sure you're not running too much total timing ? 36 degs max. I used to race a C-2 and never even ran a fan. At high speed you shouldn't need one. You do need to shroud the rad so all air goes through it. Is the car getting enough fuel, is the jetting right ? All factors. Run distilled water w/ water wetter.

I agree with a lot of what Pop Chevy said. Check your timing and A/F ratio, maybe your running a bit lean.

I just run HPDE's so definitely not racing, but my Griffin aluminum radiator keeps my temp's in check over 20-30 minute sessions with no overheating problem in my C3 with a 350. You can pick one up at Summit Racing for ~$600.
