VIR Heacock Classic pics
Unfortunately, I couldn't get any on-track action because of the incessant rain, but I got lots of static shots of wet cars in the paddock.
Except for the NASCAR V8s, this innocent-looking, little 'Vair was the loudest car on the track. Holy chit.

Nothing quite like a big Jag six
Six into three into one headers
Cars just don't look like this anymore
Or this. My favorite Mustang body style
Ducktail
It was even nicer-looking in person
The very definition of "classic"

Thanks for posting the pics!
We had planned to be there with Jim Glass' 65 Corvette, but he hurt his good engine at Lime Rock Labor Day weekend. It's never good to hurt an engine, especially one with only 12 hours on it, but I guess it's better than driving 10 hours, to sit in the rain for 2 days!
The 59 belongs to Bernie Chodosh. Bernie's from England, and is quite a character. He deals in Corvettes and race cars, and runs a vintage race series in England for pre 80's US cars, called the Historic V8 Racers Association (HVRA).
The car's pretty radical, as vintage racers go, and not much about it is a 59 Corvette, except for the shape of the body. The nose is a one piece fiberglass affair, with even the bumpers molded as part of the nose. Actually I'm not sure how much of the body is from a "real" Corvette, as a lot of it looks like it's made up of light weight hand laid pieces. It also uses a modern independent front suspension of some sort, eliminating the stock king pins, steering box, etc., along with other modifications.
Bernie had the 59 at the Watkins Glen SVRA in July. At The Glen, he ran the car in both Group 5 and Group 6. Solid axle Corvettes normally run in Group 4, so that gives you an idea just how modified the car is. He was listed in the GT class in Group 5, and BP in 6. He was running high 1:20's on the short course, mid pack in BP, but a full 10 seconds quicker than any of the solid axle Corvettes in Group 4 run!
Below are some links to info on Bernie and his cars, as well as a link to his HVRA Facebook page.

Nice to see so many historic racing fans. Here's my slideshow from the Mid-Ohio Vintage Races this June. It started out rainy like VIR but cleared up in the afternoon and turned out really nice.

2021 C1 of the Year Finalist - Modified
The 59 is on the backburner "again ". I just bought a 70 454 Coupe that will be my new racecar. Picking it up in 2 weeks and hoping to have it finished by mid or end season next year. I spent about 1/2 hr on the phone with Jim Glass (very nice-very helpful) he is is going to help with some parts for the car. Been a looong time since I raced a Vette, kinda excited about it.
