Default FS: *PFADT CF Driveshaft Manual*

We had a customer who sold his Vette and pulled his Torque tube and we traded for it. It was only in for a few months. It has all the hardware for the installation and here is the info for Pfadt:

The stock drive shaft and rubber guibo ends weigh 8.85 pounds. The Pfadt Carbon Fiber drive shaft assembly weighs only 4.28 pounds!! That is a weight savings of 52%. What's important is that this weight reduction is rotating mass.
Most after market drive shafts require the purchase of heavy rubber or aluminum guibo's to complete the install. These heavy ends eliminate almost all the weight savings over a stock set up and do nothing for improving reliability. The most common drive shaft failure is with the guibo.
Our driveshaft has been tested to 2300 ft-lb of torque on our fixture and we have over 300,000 cycles at 1350 ft-lb of torque for reliability testing. A single cycle at that torque will fail a stock driveshaft.
If you need high performance and reliability advantages, the Pfadt Carbon Fiber Driveshaft is for you!
This drive shaft is for a manual transmission application. A version for automatic transmissions is in the works.

New $2000

First $1100 gets it shipped to there door.

How much can you feel the reduction in 4.5# on a driveshaft with such a small diameter?

Is this built for handling high hp or for improved engine responsiveness?

Thanks

Rotation weight is a big deal when it comes to RWHP. I forget the # for every pound of rotation weight loss and what it adds in RWHP.

I have one in my C5 and love it!

i have only driven stock setup with rubber guibos, does the CF drive shaft transmit more NVH?

Is there any noticeable difference in rate of acceleration / responsiveness due to lighter weight?

I've always been quite skeptical of the weight reduction because of the small rotating diameter. Weight loss further away from the center of wheels and clutches I've experienced but never a drive shaft with its small diameter and light weight to begin with.

Please elaborate on the actual differences / benefits if you don't mind.

Thanks.

I have only run these in race cars. I race in NASA ST1 now and SCCA GT2 before. I went to them for the strength. The rubber guibos will not hold up. 535hp to the wheels @ 3050 after race weight. They are stronger, lighter and suppose to reduce vibration. I never felt any vibration with the factory one.
