Wanting Feedback on Setup for AutoX
All,
New here as you can tell by my post count...We have purchased a 2004 C5 Z06 as a dedicated AutoX car and are going thru it to get ready for an event later this month where we will debut it. I have searched thru here and found a tremendous amount of data on setups from different folks. Wanted to put my setup out here and get feedback from folks if you don't mind. Thanks in advance for any feedback!!
2004 C5 Z06/Z16 Completely stock
Car is lowered all the way on stock bolts
Front -
Tire - 245/40/18 - RE71R (We had these already from my wife's Corvette so thought I wood use them since they are new and we only have two events left this year)
Camber - -2.2 degrees
Toe - 3/16" total toe out
Caster - Stock
Rear -
Tire - 285/35/19 - RE71R (We had these already from my wife's Corvette so thought I wood use them since they are new and we only have two events left this year)
Camber - -.9 degrees
Toe - 3/16" total toe in
Caster - Stock
We are just looking to see where the car is and where we want to start. I am switching from a 2014 Mustang GT 5.0 that we had setup and won CAM class in in our region this year. First time in a Corvette. Any other nuances or information about these cars is greatly appreciated..
Thanks again.
Robert

welcome to the dark side
Your setup seems like a good starting point make your adjustments to the alignment with tire temps
You may find you want to change the roll couple by adding a bigger front bar.
Have fun in CAM where were not allowed to play even though the class is mostly corvettes
Drives me crazy, C6Z, cam only on stock runflats = SSM/Hoosier
Where can us modded guys go on street tires?
Rant over

Thanks. We cannot run CAM here either in the C5Z. Having to move to another class......Retiring the Mustang to a street car and developing the C5Z. Hope to go to Dixie ad Lincoln next year......

Melting Slicks
Raise it back up to a ride height that works.
Slammed on stock bolts isn't the way to go. Been there, tried that, tested it back in 2005 and learned the lesson.
No lower than one inch from stock will give you better camber curves and works better, and having suspension travel in the back is required, if you bottom out the rear shocks you'll be looking out the side window at where you are going.
Just say'n... Suggest you go back, set the ride height correctly and put a bit more negative camber in the rear (1/2 a degree less than whatever you get in the front) and start from there.

There is a ton of info on AS Z06 setups in this forum if you look around. Strano front sway bar, Konis, 275/315 Rival S tires is the popular combo that won AS this year in Lincoln.

Drifting
I have almost the same tire setup on my C7. We just changed the alignment and found good gains with using 2.4 degrees negative in the front and 1.8 negative in the rear. The extra rear negative has really helped the car drive off of the corners without as much oversteer.
Don't bottom those shocks out on the C5. It's not hard to do and it can cause some serious handling gremlins.

Seriously plan to change the front bar to a larger one. It can dramatically change your ability to put down power. 04 shocks are pretty good so you can hold off on that for a bit but don't wait on the bar change. Strano has exactly the right bar for this.

Supporting Vendor
Can help, and cars I did pretty well were all the fastest ones in AS, BS and SSR too.
