I know of several miata's that will run in the mid to low 1:20's at Hallett. That's hauling the mail. Here's a video of Emilio with Crusher at Hallett turning a 1:25. EP and FP cars are faster than this car by several seconds. I know that this isn't a spec miata but they, spec miata's, are running lap times comparable to you video laptimes. They are the 1:29's at Hallett.
Spec Miata's are a wonderful tool to teach people how to drive a car to it's limits and get the most out of it. Once that has been achieved, it's much easier for someone to move into higher HP cars and drive fast and smooth.

I think that video is evidence of a mind that goes to the extreme at what he does. Had he started with a C5 or C6, he would be hauling azz around that track with the thrill and roar of a V8.

Drove the Vette to work today for the first time in a week, wholly crap is it a monster. Tend to forget what a 600HP hammer is like compared to cute 110HP knife?
In process of prepping car, that's 1/2-3/4 the fun for me, and wow parts are cheap in comparison.
Have a Blackbird Fabworx GT3 roll bar on order $$$. Plan is trying out in HPDE and TT at Sebring & Daytona to see if I enjoy it enough before going to a full cage. Will be calling Johnny for brake pads soon.
Glad I got my Amsoil preferred customer card, between the Z06 and this project.
Will be replacing all rubber lines and a radiator that can keep it cool no matter what I do with the engine.

Nice! I have done a few track nights in my ND since I got it in april, and it is a blast. I don't have a comparison for my C5Z (trapped in Hawaii), but I have run high 1:29's at Thompson Speedway in northeast Connecticut.

This is followed by the driver saying I am not a driver so I don't know what I am talking about. I remind them I don't need to be I am a good engineer armed with a load of info with them running alone.

The other reason is it is a lot less worry in case of damage.
Near miss is much less of a pucker moment when your not worried about a pretty paint job.

I just bought a acura integra for this exact reason (old time Honda guy here). even with track insurance I really don't wanna bend my vette on the track. I found myself driving timid in it, braking way early etc. had a very close call last track day at njmp thunderbolt, started braking coming into turn 1 (around 125 mph) and went directly to abs!!, car was all over the place, I barely saved it. some one had dropped coolant... since then a disposable track car had been on my mind..
