Default xp12's ok with Xp8 rears (C7)

I have a set of Xp8's for my c7 Z51. 8's won't be enough for me for the front, I was going to do 10/8's but wondering if I can get by with 12's/8's. I will be running slicks (worn) OR r888's as backup.

I don't want to go to crazy as I need to see where the Z51 measures up to the heat and issues (I have done a good bit of prevent maintenance) I just don't want to run my michelins.. last track event an instructor corded the michelins in last session on first day. ( and I have some pirellis and R888's so I plan to use those)

On my C5Z I've run 10s with 888s and 12s with Hoosiers. I normally run 10s in back for both, but I have run 8s in back for both. Probably not the best set up, but for casual HPDE it works OK. The rears aren't doing that much braking.

I would go stronger in the back personally. With the 8's the 12's are just going to be doing that much more work.

I've run the following combos.

XP12/XP10's

XP20/XP10's

XP20's/XP12's

I would at minimum do 10's. While we think the rears aren't doing much I can't get more than 5 days at Sebring before my rear pads are down to the backing plates so they must be doing something.

12 -8 combo will work not the best but you will be ok. 12- 10 combo will be a lot better.
