Default removing all HVAC

Since the car will be track only I am removing all HVAC related items, well at least what I can with engine still installed.

Since no need for heat I was looking at plugging the water pump outlets. I did some research and some say to keep the coolant circulating and others say blocking is fine. So which option would be better? The hose looks more durable and plus the price for those plugs seems a bit excessive lol

Don't plug the water pump. It operates more efficiently with water being cycled between the ports. There are U shaped hoses made with ends to fit both the pipes. $12 bucks or so.

What about keeping it to defrost the windshield on cold days?

what about the coolant reservoir? one of the water pump outlets T's into the line that runs to the reservoir and one of the heater core pipes. If I remove all those lines can I just plug the coolant reservoir? Hope that makes sense

Don't do that. Simply run the hose that used to go to the heater core straight to the coolant res. You may need to get a piece of hose with a bend in it, but it's the only way to keep the reservoir in the loop (which you need).

one of the water pump outlets goes into the heater core and the other is the return. the one to the core is T'eed and connects to the lower port of the reservoir.

Are you saying eliminate the T and just go straight to the water pump and then cap the return? The heater core should have a switch and when closed no coolant runs through it. So wouldn't that be the same as being capped off? Or running an aftermarket reservoir.

The reservoir has two hose, the other connects directly to the radiator, wouldn't that suffice for the reservoir?

thanks

No. See Pictures.

It doesn't work like that. Coolant is always flowing through the heater core. When the heater is not in use, the blend doors keep air from blowing across the heater core.

I've been running mine like this for years (high rpm race car).

so I set this up. Still have vent tube from reservoir to radiator as well.

Other question, is there 2 or 3 nuts holding the heater core to the fire wall behind the engine? I removed two and believe that's it.

^^^ hahahaha

I know its ugly but why won't that work? I'm trying to follow your logic but guessing yours is a C5 and the reservoir is on the passenger side. Looks like your 5/8 fitting on the water pump runs back to the radiator?
