Formula One - Mexico - TV Times (U.S.)
Formula One - MEXICAN GRAND PRIX - MULTIPLE NETWORKS!!
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Updated Wednesday Oct 28 @ 9:30 PM. This schedule has changed since
I first posted it yesterday. NBC has fixed the coverage of Friday practice
so this has been updated to reflect that. If you scheduled your recordings
based upon yesterday's listings then please update.
THINGS TO KNOW
COVERAGE WILL BE ON *THREE* NBC NETWORKS. CNBC,NBC AND NBC SPORTS NET
THE PRE-RACE SHOW IS SCHEDULED SEPARATELY FROM THE RACE
THE PRE-RACE SHOW WILL BE ON NBC (See the schedule.)
*LIVE* COVERAGE OF PRACTICE WILL BE SHOWN ON NBCSN.
*LIVE* COVERAGE OF QUALIFYING WILL BE ON CNBC
*LIVE* COVERAGE OF THE RACE WILL BE ON NBC
THE TIMES AND PROGRAM LENGTHS FOR THIS WEEKEND ARE DIFFERENT, SO PAY ATTENTION!
AGAIN - THE PRE-RACE SHOW FOR THE LIVE SHOWING OF THE RACE IS ON NBC!!!
The post-race show "F1 Extra" is shown immediately after the race
show whatever time that may be. the simplest way to make sure you
record it is to simply add enough extra time to the race broadcast recording to
get (a) any extra time that was needed to record the entire race
including any delays, and (b) "F1 Extra". My standard is to
add at least three hours (!) just to make sure I cover most eventualities.
I pull this info from from my Tivo's schedule. I have no guarantee that
it is correct but it usually is.
REMEMBER THAT RACE DAY (NOV 1) IS THE DAY WE TURN THE CLOCKS
BACK ONE HOUR AT 2:00 AM!! SO DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING TO
MAKE SURE YOU DON'T MISS ANYTHING.
---------------------------------------------------------
ALL TIMES PACIFIC TIME !!!!! (Eastern times in parens)

Schedule changes
NBCSN has updated the Mexican GP schedule. It's not showing on my Tivo yet but both Racer.com and Zap2it.com (the people responsible for Tivo's schedules) are showing that there *will* be live coverage of Friday practice (P2 regardless of the listing showing it as "practice 1").
I will change the schedule up above.

This is the problem with having the races shown on the parent network - if the station is not an "O&O" network station (in this case, actually Owned and Operated by NBC corporate) then said station doesn't have to go along and can decide that a local whatever is better or more important, or will make the station more money, etc.
NBCSN *is* showing a rerun of the race this afternoon.

OK, so I have my opinion, but am curious, what's your take on Raikonnen/Bottas THIS week? It seems to me that the first incident Kimi had *no* chance in Russia; today it seemed that Bottas was on the inside, *alongside*, and under control. I *assume* that Kimi knew he was there, but do we know that for sure?
Practice was REALLY fun, slip-sliding around!
Thanks again for all your help, and have a good one,
Mike

2. Kimi keeps insisting that all of this (Russia & Mexico) is just "racing incidents" but most folks have trouble classifying the Sochi thing that way (including yours truly.) "No chance", indeed!
My reaction when today's crash happened was "justice!" (especially when Bottas' wheels came away intact )
It was an interesting race. Kind of weird seeing Vettel doing a drive where he appeared to be trying to "out-Goofy" Hamilton at Hungary.

Bien hecho México!
EVENT: I'm impressed with the track/facilities makeover, would have to rank that podium setting as one of the best in racing, and given the atmosphere generated by that home crowd figure it'll be a few days yet before Checo will touch back down to earth. Racing wise, I was very pleased to see Nico bounce back strongly, but a bit disappointed in all involved in both the Vettel/Ricciardo and Raikkonen/Bottas incidents.
COVERAGE: At least my local NBC affiliate pretty much always shows major sporting events carried by the network, but I still wish they'd keep F1 coverage all in just one place on NBCSN. Hate, hate, hate chasing around to make sure I don't miss anything, and if I happen to be caught watching the local on a std. def. source I'm stuck with (insert profanity here) 4:3, as they don't LB wide-screen programming like most everyone else does here. Still, NBC as a whole is doing a far better job with F1 than what FOX did to the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year. (Yep, still fairly PO'ed about that.)
SERIES: Tho the 2016 grid is picking up 2 cars with the Hass F1 Team entry, I'm sure that I'm not the only one growing more and more concerned over how many we might possibly loose. Seriously, can you imagine a Gran Prix field of less than 20 cars?

1. Kimi knew he was there. He made it clear from the entrance to the previous corner.

I view the attempted Sochi pass attempt as more of a racing incident than this one in Mexico.
This one..........Kimi should have given Bottas room.
The lack of a penalty to me indicates that the stewards thought Bottas was in the right again.

Did you just use the phrase "brain" in regards to F1 management??????
One other comment: I was really surprised at Vettel's drive; I haven't seen him that undisciplined(?) since his first couple of seasons.
Have a good one,
Mike

To be fair, spending one/two/several seasons at the front will also cause what "back in the pack" skills a driver may have had to wither.

The first time I observed an IndyCar test day in person (at Road America), I was shocked by how sloppy a number of the top drivers were, believing to this day that if they'd been driving like that in the Barber/Dodge Pro Series they'd have been distant back markers and never heard of again. Not sour grapes for having not found my own way up the ladder, JMHO.

The nature of F1 has always been one of tech over driver. And if you have a driver who has pretty much always had the best car under him, many of his flaws/shortcomings are masked by the fact that he hasn't/doesn't have to *fight* (as in "close combat") very often to demonstrate his excellence.
Have a good one,
Mike
