Considering the uproar and shier disgust of them painting up a C7-R waxer edition, I'm not holding my breath.

If Chevy comes out with a GT3 spec race car I would be amazed.

Isn't there a pretty massive difference between a GT3 level car and a decontented C7 with a cage and some good shocks? It would be nice to see them do something like Mazda has done with the new MX-5 Club Sport car.

I think they have to build this to get some credibility back. Serious enthusiasts are staying clear if C7Z06 and no one would touch the C7R. The C7R reminds me of the purple indy pace car. Yeah that was Special.

You are correct. A FIA GT3 car is that Callaway
That will never be sold to teams in the states, and would cost 400k give or take a 100k.

This car at SEMA sounds like it will be a spec racer similar to the Miata Cup cars. It would be a cool series to watch if they can find enough teams to buy them and expand beyond Miller.

A C7 GS would sell well too and I think we'll see something like that in a couple of years when C7 sales start to lag. Take the Z51, put the wide body with aero and Z07 brakes on it, and sell it as the real track-ready car that they wanted the Z06 to be. Maybe even do a dealership installed "off-road" tune like Ford did for the Mustang a couple of years ago.

Agreed! I would buy one and race it if the price was close to the streetcar. The mustangs are fast in our race class and won the national championship. We C5 vettes have been equalized out with lots of ballast and restrictor so we still have lots of potential on the table. Still, I caught myself looking at Mustangs on craigslist yesterday.

I would bet any ready to race c7 would be in the 140k+ even the challenge Mustangs the FR500s were around 80k, double the price of the GT they were based on. I'm going to say they won't actually sell one. I think it would be more of the GS people could buy and build into a spec racer. Hope I'm wrong, it would be good for the brand

What race class is this? Don't think I'd be too interested in competing if they make you detune or carry weight because "vettes are too fast."

What is the point of racing and having a challenging race if the cars are not equalized. Winning is fun, but not when one car jumps out ahead 30 seconds on the first lap because it is so superior. It is not fun for the winning driver of that car nor the others who have no chance.

It is not racing when your racing T1 and some guys enters in a GT1 car and stomps everyone else. Cars need to be equalized as much as possible.

Different classes are formed for those who want increased levels of allowed modifications.

Porsche Cup

Porsche Cayman Inter-series

Ferrari Challenge

Lamborghini Series

Could be interesting for a much lower entry cost

Well sure and that's why T1 doesn't race GT1 and in NASA why ST2 doesn't race ST1. Power to weight is the equalization and that's fine. Sounded to me like he was saying they FURTHER penalize the fast cars for being too fast by restricting them or making them carry more weight.

As the original thread stated, there is a good chance that there will be a revitalized Corvette Challenge series.

Edited out my T1 comments. Didn't see the other thread.

Well, I did not comprehend the info passed on to me was to be confidential until GM releases it at SEMA. Short story I was asked to not post additional info until the release.

I want to apologize to everyone here, I did not intend to create a problem.

I can't make SEMA this year, but if you know anyone going, the reviel will be Tuesday first thing, at Chevy booth, the most solid answers will come from there. Also SpringMountain will be in same booth for first time.

The Mustang Challenge cars were $75k in 2008 so I'm going to guess $100k for the C7 racer.

Edit: http://www.corvetteconti.com/blog/wp...ies-final1.pdf

It's going to be a lot more than $100k.
