Default Road race Corvette C4 ... Updated 85

After 21 years with the same eagle talon (eclipse)race car -from slaloming /time attack/racing at Waterford hills to Mosport , it was time for a change.
I was actually just tired of turbos/laptops and a real fast high HP car for a short period of time at most roadrace events. The search started just looking for a v8 with a carb in any shell.
This 85 vette originally came from Texas- Nasa series and ended up with a forum member in Ottawa from whom i purchased it in the fall of 2013.
He had made some recommendations on things it would need and so my build began with my main goal being to make the car as light as possible with the same C4 main frame and perform some upgrades.

At that point I became a VETTE owner and joined this forum.
I want to thank everyone that has posted their C4 mods over the years, it seems every google question asked directed me back to the forum .

I found a 91 ZR 1 body on the Casc web site posted back in 2012-still for sale $200 ( my favorite style from back then ). Spent many hours piecing the wider body together with the original and using threaded fasteners so it all comes apart easily if needed.

Pieced together QA1 kit /coilovers myself as opposed to buying it as a kit -saved lots-poor canadian exchange rates.
currently 600 front 450 rear
McColls in london were a major help for parts and a initial tune .
Zr1 hood had been cut to fit twin turbo's so that was changed and a Gt 40 scoop was added for air flow out.

Fabbed a fuel cell frame as low as possible and dual pumps /filters just in case.
Kept a lot of race parts from my old car and reused them -seat, aluminum rad, Tilton Pedals- had to create a pedal box so that the would be at the proper distance from my seat ( has a removable lid for quick access) .
New Wilwood brakes 6 piston front 4 rear , adjustable sway bars rear(modified 19 mm) ,all other rear suspension bars/heim joints, QA1 have compression /rebound adjust .

Engine is an iron block 355 /rpm heads-rollers/ victor intake /new holly 650HP/ MSD ignition.
I may end up changing intake to a dual plane for next year or at least until i can build up an LS motor with a carb, for now keeping the rpm below 6200 but always can use way more HP !
Dynomax 3" X (internal crossover) muffler
Previous info had the old setup at 335hp/380tq but i'll head to a dyno in town here soon so i have a current number .
Car weight is 2600 dry - not as light as i wanted but i'll see what else i can chip away at this winter ( an aluminum block would help).
Rad fluid/oil/diff-tranny fluid and fuel add up to over 100 lbs and more with full 25 gallon tank.

Picked up a carbon wing from a radical on the Casc web/ ccw's from Georgia.
Car currently has my old 2013 hoosier R6 275/40/17
i'll try the 295/35/17 r7 square set up next spring .
Race prepped tremic 5 speed ( Libertys Gears /Murrays Transmission -London), Dana 44
Body panels were painted white- Flying M London then car was wrapped in red by Big Rig lettering London .

Finally made it to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Mosport) Bomanville ,Ontario for 2 events in sept. Run in Gt 3 class

rain race #1 -hoosier wets finished 17 from 27th
rain race #2 -started 17 made it to 12th but spun bottom of corner 2-didnt touch the wall but was stuck in the grass.

Series final last weekend in sept.
race #1 finished 7th from 27 th
race #2 finished 9th from 7th after leaving the track at hilltop from a missed shift - had to work to get some spots back . i'll still need a bit of work to get to the front of GT 3.

Been out a few times in the past 2 weeks to TMP in Cuyuga ont. just for practice/ seat time and to enjoy a car the just keeps going and going .

Nice to see another C4 . What did they do as far as "race prep , on the trans " ? TKO 500-600? Im real curious on what a C4 is like with Aero . My slow corners are 47MPH so I think that may be a good place to look for speed .

Thanks...

I would have posted as i was building but there was never enough time , my old car was built to same extent but over the 21 years before i parted it out.
I enjoy fabricating and it keeps out of the house and from renovating..lol!
When i was doing my daily search for cars i think i saw it an hour after it was posted and a few hours later a deal was made.

This car came with a borg warner T4 from a c3 but it was one of the things recommended I change to 5 speed. Casc forum had a TKO 600 tremic from a race truck, it had supposedly been rebuilt but broke after 1 minute at Mosport. I sent it to Libertys (recommended on this forum) in Detroit where they rebuilt the works including casing, carbon syncros etc and their modification to help with the bad 2nd to 3rd gear shift. After the first race in Sept i lost reverse/5th gear, so i had a local shop do the 5th gear arm (probably the last orginal piece in it ) replacement with a replacement from libertys. The local shop had it back to me in 2 days because they knew of my time crunch before the next race .
As for areo - CTMP is a high speed horsepower track so ,it will definitely help as i decrease my lap times.

I found a couple of extra pics with a few more details.
Yellow body kit came from a twin turbo vette shown here at Shannonville ontario in the early 90's with the wide based wing.

Wilwood 6 and 4 piston kits for 85 vette are still available
Fans down in the hole, Hoosier rain tires on stock 17" x 9.5 wheels.
I'll add in a set of adjustable upper control arms.

Still contemplating dyno options right now -go the easy route wheel dyno or pull motor for engine dyno actual hp

Cool, looks good.
Did you only buy the body panels off the yellow car? Do you know who makes the body kit?
How did you remove the ZR1 quarter panels, aren't they glued on the top part to the body?

It was the complete stock welded, braced and caged chassis with -no suspension, doors or that wing and missing rear quarter fender lips- they had flares back then but were missing .
I just saw it in a google search from the casc forums from 2012 - called the guy up who was in europe ,he had it stored .
When he came back i met him in a storage locker in toronto -$200 . I did not take the chassis since i already had one and they had even changed to tube frame back then because of weight so i think the story goes .
The rear body was stamped with ZR1 body factory stickers and was about 6.5 inches wider than the 85 body -i'm not sure how they had it fastened , it wasn't attached .
I used a heat gun and pried the glue on mine apart, damage caused i would be fixing anyways.
The front nose i think i've seen a few on line similar to it - i filled in the intercooler opening .That yellow hood was a cardboard wafer coated in carbon fiber ( home made) with cut outs for intercooler pipes.
skinned my red doors and fabbed the lower skirts from both bodies.
