Default LG Motorsports G2 coil over package updates for 2016

We have some exciting new products coming for 2016 and some updates on existing products like our G2 line which I am going to go over here.

Our G2 coil over suspension line started in 1993 on the 4th generation Camaro's and continues to this day with our latest design for the 7th generation Corvette. The G2's have won countless times in both pro and regional classes in autoX, road racing, and drag racing alike.

What has been at the core of all of the G2 packages has been our long running relationship with Bilstein Motorsports in making parts and designs to meet our needs and our customer's demands in performance and quality.

As you well know....our G2 line is one tough cookie!

For 2016 we have a shock update that is going to make this package even better with little to no impact on pricing (to be released in January).

Our current G2 shocks

New G2 shock for 2016

New shock end cap

This is going to be the new shock that is supplied with all kits that will phase in during 2016. You will still have LG Motorsports proven mounting kits and top quality HyperCo springs going with each G2 set, along with our custom valving per your order.

What is new is a fine threaded shock body that will give the end user more accurate adjustments when corner balancing the car. Also new is a threaded on end cap protective cover for the floating rod guide. This acts also as a bump stop caps for those cars that require bump stops when needed. This new cap will help keep debris and dirt from the guide as well for longer service life.

This new modular design is also slightly lighter than the prior generation shock too, which is an added bonus! Total car sets will be about 1/2 lb lighter than last generation.

WHAT CHANGES
  • New fine thread collar adjustments
  • Screw on rod guide / bump stop plate
  • Screw on pressure chamber top
  • Larger adjustment range
  • Lighter weight
  • Modular body design

WHAT STAYS THE SAME
  • LG Motorsports custom valves per customer order
  • LG Motorsports durable mounting kit
  • Bilstein's patented floating pressure chamber design
  • floating rod guide
  • 46mm tube diameter

Of course we will always support older generation G2's as long as we possibly can. This new design does interchange shafts and pistons so rebuilds can still be done on older designs the same as the new shocks.

LG Motorsports, always improving the breed through racing!

Only a hand full of parts left now to do the older designs. Most likely any order placed after today will be the new body design.

Control arm bushings? Customers have been using coil overs with OEM bushings, poly bushings, and our mono ball kits for years.

Yes when going for the best performance you would use spherical bearings like our mono ball kits when doing a race car but not every car would be a dedicated track car and the OEM bushings do provide a more comfortable ride.

It is going to slightly effect wheel rates, but so do different tires.

I know you said you cant retro the old to the new, but are there any trade in or upgrade incentive program for older G2 kit owners?

No....this isn't like a recall, just an evolution of design. The springs interchange, the mounts all interchange, the lower spring perches all interchange. The threaded pieces and the shock itself are different. If at any point you need new shocks or would want to do the new shocks we can most certainly get them to you, and existing customers would get a discount on the shocks.

I do not thing we are doing any trade in programs, at least not at this time.

Did you make the shock body any shorter? Seems like before the front were a little to long.

thanks,

Steve

Shock length with the G2's vary depending on the build.

I had some G2's before. Do you keep records for customers that ordered from you before? I might need another set. I sold the car the other G2's were on.

thanks,

The new shock bodies are now shipping from Bilstein (as of yesterday) so orders will start to ship by the end of this week on any and all back orders.

Almost caught up on all back orders.

Currently it looks like I will have stock left after all current orders are assembled, to build a few more before the next batch of parts arrives from Bilstein.

Knocking out current orders this week, and should have enough parts left for a couple more sets before the next batch arrives if anyone is looking for one of the best coil over kits on the market for Corvette!

do you by chance offer this collar adjuster? Quite difficult getting in there with the spanner wrench.

I don't know if anyone has made those for this thread design or not. I am sure I could have them made. The only thing I don't care to much about those is that you have to use a set screw to hold them in place and over time it screws up the threads on the shock.
