Good news for Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas.

Let's hope the new owners repave the notoriously rough road course.

Anyone know any new info? I looked at their website the other day and didn't see anything on the road course schedule. IIRC there's some activity on the dirt track (and drag strip?).

Jeff Lacina from Track Guys is now doing their marketing and such. He posted that their first priority is getting the drag strip done before moving to refurbing the road course. Hes a road course guy, so I know he has heart is seeing this happen.

This really is great news as the road course configurations at HPT are great fun. I lived there for many years and hence HPT was my home track. Will be very glad to see the road course back in action.

I'm glad to hear that the road course hasn't been forgotten in this change of ownership. To be honest, I never had any real complaints about the pavement quality. It certainly wasn't perfect (damn few tracks are), but it was still very acceptable to me. I would probably prefer the first few "improvements" to be a couple sand traps outside some of the faster turns.

Yea Jeff spoke at our HPT Midiv Solo banquet last weekend. He was super enthusiastic and said he was working on a quote right now to take to the owners for repaving the road course. Sounded like a bit of an uphill battle because of the cost, but he seemed determined to get it done. His goal was to get 4 nationally sanctioned tracks there (drag strip, road course, dirt track, and motocross track).

A rough road course? Really?

You guys need to come to Sebring. We have people from all over the world coming here to see if they can break their cars. Audi no longer runs in the US but they still come to Sebring a couple times a year to see what they can break.

And there are no plans to repave Sebring. We like it that way.

I`m just curious what makes anyone think the new track owner will do a better job than the previous track owner who (I believe) had the blessing of the SCCA and was not only a road race guy but at one time a Corvette racer?
