Default What brand and where to buy fuel pump?

This is for the 02 Suburban, but the question could apply to a Vette also.

I recently put an ACDelco water pump on the Suburban and it's got a small leak where the metal hose neck goes into the pump casting, so I'm not too happy with ACDelco quality.

I don't want to drop the tank on the Suburban & put in a crap pump, so what & where is the best quality fuel pump?

Thanks guys.

Froggy, when the one in my truck went bad I got one from rockauto.
I didn't pay much attention to who made it.
one suggestion would be to make an access door so you would not need to drop the tank if it happens again.

Froggy,

No idea if this is relevant to your situation, but I thought I needed a new fuel pump in my 1996 K1500 - wrong. Replacing the pump did not cure anything. Turns out those trucks had a history of eating fuel pump relays.

Not sure, what's the "bucket"?

I have had the best luck with Bosch pumps. Buy from Rock Auto, hard to beat the price (if you can wait a few days on it.)

when I had a 2000 Silverado 1500 I replaced mine with a local auto parts store one. Shopping around I discovered they all pretty much carry the same one. In my case my pump was good, but the fuel level sender was bad and it all comes as a single unit. The replacements do not directly plug into the factory harness, but come with a pigtail that must be spliced into the factory harness. Very easy to do. Do not be tempted to use heat shrink there with a torch or lighter however.
It's a straight forward install. I did mine by myself under the truck with a low level fuel tank.

First something I learned a while ago that I was shocked over. There is a difference between acdelco genuine GM and ac delco the aftermarket company. (I was told that one company is "ACDelco and "AC Delco"). I have seen this difference confirmed in coils but some inconsistencies in other parts. Apparently genuine GM parts are top choice and tolerances and then the ones that done necessarily make the cut but still good enough they go to the ac delco. All the parts stores carry then worse of the two.

Now the second part is what I've had experience with. I replaced my stock pump with a wolbro 60gph and it worked for 2 years. Then burnt out. I'm really suspecting it was my stock wiring more than the pump though. Wish I hadn't been spinning 7000 rpm at the time.... Shattered piston.

I am moving to an automotive pump now. And wiring up a 10 gauge power wire...

If you really want to be alarmed read the link below. It applies to fuel pumps, but I'm sure that is not an isolated case.

Here is the video

Thanks guys, wasn't too bad, wish I had moved the drive shaft early on. Made it a LOT easier when you do it and leave the tank on the truck, on an angle.

Hope I get more than a couple of years on this one. Original went 105k miles.
