Need to siphon 30 gal. gas out of my truck - how?
Anyone have a tool to recommend or a trick? I need to go in thru the filler and it's a ways to the tank. Need to drain to drop tank & replace FP.
It's (ugh) FULL.

Is it a newer truck?? Some of the newer PU's have a restrictor in the fill pipe that prevents a siphon hose from being pushed in. You may have to remove the fill pipe in order to get a hose in there so you can siphon the gas out.

does the fuel pump work at all? usually when they are going they work until heating up then start to lose pressure. if so you can disconnect the fuel line at the rail and put power to the pump. I've done that before

If the fuel pump still works you can remove the fuel pump relay and place a short wire from the power terminal (#30) to the fuel pump terminal (#87). Then remove the Schrader valve core in the fuel rail and attach a 4AN fitting and 1/4" hose. When you jumper the relay terminals the fuel will pour from the hose attached at the fuel rail into a fuel container.
After work I can send you a schematic of the fuel pump circuit for a 2002 Suburban. This will show where to put the small jumper wire after removing the relay.
Draining from a hose stuck into the filler tube is near impossible on modern vehicles.

But I would like the diagram if you don't mind.
Also which relay is the FP?

Don't put too big of a wire in the relay terminals.. It will spread them and the relay won't seat properly when you put it back together...

Park a second car next to the Suburban (if your hose is long enough) and fill it's tank with the fuel pumped out of yours.

The easiest and a bit redneck way is to cut a 3 sided hole with a panel ripper in the floor of the truck under the rear seat bend it up pull the pump and replace then bend floor back and fill gap with panel adhesive. It is way easier than trying to drop the tank because almost every one has broken clip nuts and getting the straps off is next to impossible. There are pictures of the process on the chevy ,tahoe, avalanche and sub sites.
Be carefull these trucks are famous for rotted fuel lines and they suck to replace.. Good Luck
