Run the Rolex 24 roadcourse at Daytona April 14-15
Registration is open for an HPDE at the Daytona Int'l Speedway running the 3.56 mile Rolex 24 roadcourse April 14-15, 2016.
There are a number of HPDE type events at Daytona, but they are all in the fall (Oct, Nov, and Dec) except for this one in April.
Here's a link to some info:
http://flatoutmotorsports.us/event/f...na-drivers-ed/
You can register on clubregistration.net:
https://clubregistration.net/events/...cfm/event/6983
This is a two day event (Thurs and Fri) and you can run one day on either Thurs or Fri, or both days.
This is the track event associated with an "exotic car" event down south of Orlando. More info about that is at:
www.celebrationexoticcars.com
Flat Out Motorsports is the track event organizing group for the track event at Daytona.
I've been to this event for the last several years, and it's a really great event!! One of the very interesting things is that STOCK CONVERTIBLES ARE ALLOWED with no cage/rollbar required!!
In past years they have been student/novice driver friendly. On the registration site there is a $150 fee for inexperienced drivers that will require an instructor. Flat Out is having a meeting in about a week to discuss the "student" driver issue and make final determinations if there will be an experience level required for the event - I'll report when they let me know after the meeting.
Edited: Received info from the Flat Out guys that they "are going to allow students again this year. Non solo qualified drivers will need an instructor and be required to pay additional the instructor fee of $150."
So, if you haven't been soloed out at other track events you can drive this event, but you'll need an instructor for an additional $150 fee.
C'ya at the track!!!

Excellent!!!
From your avatar it looks like you've run Daytona before - or is that Porsche on the banking at Homestead??
Edited: After comparing our avatars, they look so similar that yours must have been at Daytona as well!!

I just edited my original post with info received from Flat Out. They emailed me that:
C'ya at the track!!
We are going to allow students again this year. Non solo qualified drivers will need an instructor and be required to pay additional the instructor fee of $150.
So...even if you haven't driven a track event before you'll be able to run this event. If you're a novice driver and haven't been approved for solo driving at other events you'll need an instructor for an additional $150 fee.C'ya at the track!!

Price is going up soon.
Drive your car on the one the most famous race tracks in the world! We will have the FULL Rolex 24 hour road course (3.56 miles) for two days, and all cars are welcome! THIS IS A CHARITY EVENT and all payments and proceeds are going DIRECTLY to the charity not Flat Out Motorsports. We are simply organizing and sponsoring the track portion of this great event. This event sold out last year and we were forced to turn people away, make sure to register early to secure your spot. Unfortunately, there is NO car sharing at this event.
There will be 3 run groups for this event. Each run group will get FIVE 30 min. sessions per day. Cost for this event is $795 for 2 days and $495 for one day. Pricing goes up on March 21st. After the 21st it will be $995 for 2 days and $595 for a single day.

I live close to the track, but I'm getting higher miles on my GS, and really don't want to do 5 continuous sessions, since it is my only vehicle and daily driver.
In past years, I've shown up for the driver's meeting/tech inspection for various events at the track, and sometimes registered for a partial session on the last day, when others have either broken their cars or dropped out.
Would something like that be possible for this particular event? It might make a few more bucks for charity
I have new brake fluid, new rotors, pads, good tires, etc. (meaning, I'll have my car tech inspection ready around that time of year anyway).
Just curious for another option possibly

Hi Scott!!
Yes, we picked it up March 8th with Museum Delivery. Laguna Blue Z06/Z07 with M7 transmission. WOW!!! What a fantastic car!!
But, the manual says to get 1500 miles on before running it on the track, and I've only got 700 so far, so I'll have the ZR1 at Daytona Thurs&Fri.
I got your text and sorry to hear that you can't make it.

I do plan to swing by the track anyway, and I may have to come over and check out that new Z06 sometime too!!
