Default stuck brake piston 2016 C7

Well, I was changing the pads to a new set of track pads. Pressed in pistons with old pads like always. pushed in bottom pistons (top piston pushed out some) went to push in top piston and nothing. Long story short after cracking bleeder, opening bleeder to now pulling the caliper.

With caliper disconnected no budge.

I have pics attached, and I don't know much about seals, but these things look horrible.

3000 miles. one track weekend. One set of carbotech pads.

Take a pair of needle nose, grab the outermost edge of the piston, and twist it back and forth. Then try to encourage it back into place. If the piston has extended out enough that it is "cocked" it the barrel of the piston bore, it could be binding when you are attempting to push it back in. Work with it.

Must be a stainless piston.

On a serious note- the piston is probably no longer square to the bore. Try using your hands, and wiggling it back and fourth, while trying to pull it in.

You MAY find the need to push the piston out with the pedal, to square it up in the bore again, before pressing it back in.

Sweet, that fixed got the piston released. Also the boots around the piston you can see in the picture are basically completely non existent, from heat I'm assuming. Is this an area of concern?

They are just dust seals, nothing to worry about. If you ever rebuild them, you can leave them out.

Think of it as a badge on honor. If you don't burn up the dust seals in the first track weekend, you're not braking hard enough. No harm running without them unless you're running in the Baja 1000.
