C-3 racing clutch
C-2 , C3 racers . What are you using for a clutch/flywheel . I am leaning toward a triple disc but the tranny guys don't like em cause they are too harsh on the shift. I am ready to get my rotating assy balanced and need to pick a flywheel. Shooting for 600+ hp. Any thoughts on the subject?

In the old days we used the L88 flywheel, it only weighed about 14lbs and could handle the 560+ hp of the L88 Corvette. It was 10.5" but could be used on some dual disc clutches.

What do you run for a trans? I am looking at a M23.
I looked for a L-88 flywheel, can't seem to find one. I did find an original for 2k. Yikes !

The M23 is a beefed up version of the M22. I call them model DS units. If you can afford a non synchro box in your racing class, then a G-Force GF4A is a good choice. http://www.gforcetransmissions.com/tran_gf4a.asp
However, as you are aware some classes require synchros. The Spec-25 full synchro Muncie has been run successfully for years with triple disc tilton, quartermaster or whatever clutches. Info on that transmission is at http://www.spec25.com
See this video on how it shifts.....
and here killing the GT40's

I have a M22 in my car and our 67 has a Rankin trans but that will most likely be coming out and the original M22 going back in. With the Autogear gears and synchros they are pretty reliable if you take it somewhat easy and can handle BBC horsepower and torque. If you want to take the SVRA weight penalty or are running HSR than just go with a Jericho trans or something similar.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. I ordered a Quartermaster v-drive.
4 speeds- Cool vids ! Good shifting, I noticed he's using the clutch pedal all the time. One big advantage to the Jerico.

I'm building a 454 w/ factory steel crank. It's external balance that can make things difficult. So with a triple disc I can run a ext balance flex plate. Thanks anyway !

He runs in a class that requires a synchro 4 speed.... and by the way wins consistantly. The race with the GT-40s was a 6 hour endurance race at Spa and he took 1st. 427 BB pushing 800 HP. The Jerico is not allowed.
